(KGTV) — The jury deciding former NFL star Kellen Winslow Jr.'s fate in a rape trial, sent a note to the judge asking two questions.The questions lending a window into what's happening as the jury continues deliberating.10News spoke with Defense Attorney Gretchen Von Helms, to gain insight.On the surface, the questions seem obvious: "The jurors could benefit from an explanation as to what being under oath means. He took a friend, a flashlight and a small aluminum baseball bat but he thought he was picking up documents from a private investigator.Instead, as he approached the spot off Rancho Santa Fe Road and Avenida Soledad, he shined his flashlight around and spotted someone dressed in camouflage pointing a long gun right at him.Before he knew what was happening he was hit once in the side, the bullet exiting out his back.In the courtroom Tuesday, his ex-wife and the man accused of firing the gun, her weapons instructor, sat quietly, Lovejoy crying at times and shaking her head at others. Mulvihill was cross-examined Tuesday and the trial will resume Wednesday morning. 1506

WASHINGTON — House Democrats will investigate whether Postmaster General Louis DeJoy encouraged employees at his business to contribute to Republican candidates and then reimbursed them in the guise of bonuses, a violation of campaign finance laws. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, House Oversight Committee chair, announced the investigation Tuesday. The Washington Post reports that five people who worked for DeJoy’s former business were urged to write checks and attend fundraisers at his North Carolina mansion. Two former employees said DeJoy would give bigger bonuses to reimburse them. Walgreens has finally figured out a way to buy Rite Aid -- or about half of it, at least.The pharmacy giant said Tuesday that federal regulators have accepted its .4 billion deal to buy 1,932 Rite Aid stores. That will leave Rite Aid with about 2,600 stores once the deal is finished.The purchase marks the end of a two-years-long fight for Walgreens, which initially tried to buy Rite Aid outright for billion in October 2015.The merger agreement faced intense scrutiny from the start, since it would have left the United States with just two major pharmacy chains: Walgreens and CVS.The agreement was reworked several times over the past few years as Walgreens scaled back the number of stores it intended to purchase. In June, the company tried for a .2 billion deal that would have handed it 2,186 Rite Aid stores.Walgreens recently revised its deal again, said company spokesman Michael Polzin. Polzin said that the waiting period for review by the Federal Trade Commission expired last night at midnight, effectively giving Walgreens the regulatory clearance it needs to move forward.The Rite Aid pharmacies that Walgreens plans to buy will eventually be rebranded as Walgreens stores.
