SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials have reported 283 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths, raising the region's total number of cases to 26,984, with the death toll remaining at 533.The county reported 7,505 diagnostic tests Saturday, 4% of which returned positive. The 14-day rolling average of positive tests is 5.6%. The target set by California is less than 8%. The seven-day daily average of tests is 9,201. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The city of Santee called on residents today to help it develop a brand to market the city to tourists, businesses and potential residents.Santee recently partnered with North Star Destination Strategies to develop a marketing brand for the city. To that end, the marketing agency launched an online survey for Santee residents to give feedback on the city's strengths, weaknesses and challenges. Responses to the survey are anonymous, according to North Star Destination Strategies."We have partnered with more than 250 communities across North American and I can't emphasize enough the importance of insights gleaned from community members," North Star Founder Don McEachern said.Residents can access the survey at the city's website and submit it electronically. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Some people making emergency calls to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department on Verizon phones experienced problems connecting with dispatchers for part of the day Tuesday.It was not immediately clear what was preventing 911 operators from hearing certain -- but not all -- calls made on the Verizon network, sheriff's public-affairs Lt. Karen Stubkjaer said.The regional law enforcement agency worked with the telecommunications company to determine the source of the problem, Stubkjaer said.Officials advised anyone having trouble being heard by a sheriff's dispatcher to hang up, after which the emergency operator will immediately call back.The connection problems were tending to go away on the return calls, Stubkjaer said.By mid-afternoon, the New York-based wireless carrier had identified and resolved the problem, according to Stubkjaer.A Verizon spokesperson did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the issue. 962
