SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A University City postal worker is getting some well-earned R&R after 50 years.Elizabeth West has worked for the postal service since she was 18. She told 10News that postal work runs in her family and her dad was the very first postal carrier in University City.That's where the beloved employee has spent the last 35 years of her career. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Accusations of altering documents to receive federal money. That’s the claim in court records against Argosy University, which operates The Art Institute of California in San Diego. Court documents accuse the university of charges including changing submissions to the Department of Education to get student financial funds. Argosy University operates more than a dozen locations across the country, including the Art Institute of California in Mission Valley. The Department of Education sent millions of dollars to Argosy. The filing was made on behalf of a court-appointed receiver, the independent outside party to handle the university’s finances. 10News reported earlier that the Education Department stopped all financial aid to Argosy. In July of 2018, the Art Institute in Mission Valley stopped enrolling new students. Current students say they’re frustrated and nervous. 10News reached out to Argosy’s parent company for a response but hasn’t heard back. 1250

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A serial flasher who exposed himself to seven women near University of California San Diego was sentenced Thursday, according to City Attorney Mara Elliott. Nicholas Saienni, 34, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and received a sentence of 180 days of custody, three years of probation, a waiver of his Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights, and court fines and fees. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and get counseling. If he violates his probation, he could face an additional year and a half in jail, according to prosecutors. San Diego Police arrested Saienni after eight separate incidents between January and March 2019. Prosecutors said Saienni exposed himself to the women while dressed as a jogger and wearing a hooded sweatshirt to conceal his identity. Saienni confessed to the indecent exposure and admitted he had been convicted of similar acts in Delaware in 2018, Elliott reported. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A series of closures are set for Interstate 5 throughout June and possibly into July for Mid-Coast trolley construction.SANDAG says the closures will allow crews to remove and install temporary wooden structures to support the trolley bridge, also called falsework. The falsework currently on Voigt Drive will be removed and installed just south of Nobel Drive to support a second trolley overcrossing. Both trolley overcrossings will span the I-5, SANDAG says.A full closure of southbound I-5 lanes will start on Sunday, June 9, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night Sunday through Thursday, and will run through Friday, June 28. The closure covers I-5/I-805 interchange to La Jolla Colony Dr. Detours will be set up for motorists to use southbound I-805 and westbound State Route 52 in place of the stretch of I-5.Once the southbound closure is complete, a full northbound closure will be needed.The Mid-Coast trolley will eventually extend the Blue Line trolley from Old Town Transit Center to the UC San Diego area. Trolley service is expected to begin in late 2021. 1096
