SYLMAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities announced that a missing Los Angeles mother and her three children were safely located at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in south San Diego County.The young family disappeared from their home in Sylmar on Oct. 9, according to authorities.Liliana Lopez's three children, who were also missing since Oct. 9, were found when they entered the U.S. from Mexico at the border crossing.Los Angeles police detectives were interviewing Lopez to determine the circumstances of her and her children's disappearance.A man who was identified as a possible suspect in their kidnapping, Esteban Lopez, is believed to be still in Mexico, according to authorities.Police were called to the 13600 block of Fellows Avenue at 9:27 p.m. on Oct. 9 and found that a possible kidnapping had occurred. Police continued to search for them even as the Saddleridge Fire started up the next day and raged throughout the area.Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact LAPD Det. TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Catholic school experienced heightened police presence and low attendance Tuesday after a former contracted employee threatened violence on campus. "When I first walked into school there was like eight people and then like they kept saying there was like police and a lockdown drill will happen," said Sofia Diaco, a fourth-grade student at Academy of the Holy Names. Tampa Police advised school officials at Academy of the Holy Names to operate on a modified lockdown Tuesday as they searched for the person who threatened to "shoot up the school.""There's no question that when you hear about such a specific and violent threat, you worry about your children's safety and you entrust that safety to the school," said parent Dan Diaco. Ainya Smalls, 23, was arrested for making the threat in front of students and staff as a supervisor escorted her off campus after being terminated on Monday. Smalls worked for a cleaning company hired by the school. "A lot of people were scared, some post-traumatic issues from some of the children, and some of the parents to be honest," Diaco said. Scripps station WFTS in Tampa has learned, Smalls already had a warrant out for her arrest for criminal mischief while she worked at the historic Catholic school. Officials say Smalls passed a Level 2 background check provided by the cleaning company. But after this incident, they will now conduct their own screenings for all contracted employees and plan on re-screening every member of the cleaning staff. "I think the Academy's new policy of taking control of the background checks is a wonderful remedy to help prevent something like this from happening again," Diaco said. He also cannot compete against the company for two years.The separation agreement also notes that Wynn must leave his residence at Wynn Las Vegas by June 1 and pay fair market rent until that date. Wynn can terminate the lease before that date. Wnny wll also cease to have administrative support after May 31 and health insurance through the company after Dec. 31, according to the document. Wynn's employment with Wynn Resorts began on Oct. 4, 2002 and ended on Feb. 6, 2018. He resigned following allegations of sexual misconduct. The document also acknowledges that Wynn agrees to cooperate with Wynn Resorts Board of Directors investigation into his time at the company. Tap your heels together three times, and you’ll be home.Those were the instructions from Glinda the Good Witch gave to Judy Garland in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.But today, the idea of tapping those ruby slippers together is enough to make conservator Dawn Wallace cringe.“I spent probably over 200 hours just working on the sequins themselves,” says Wallace. “So, I take great care.”Wallace is an objects conservator at the Smithsonian. She’s charged with caring for the famous ruby slippers worn by Garland in the movie.“Every single time I pick up these shoes, they are an American treasure and they are iconic,” says Wallace. “I always feel excited, and I always get a little bit of a thrill knowing that I get to work with these amazing objects.”It’s been a painstaking nearly two-year conservation process, cleaning every bead and realigning every sequin.“The sequins on the toes, they were exposed to light during the filming,” explains Wallace. “So, those have more light damage. So, we do see some fading on some of those sequins.”Wallace also points out there are some beads missing from the shoes, but says it’s, “part of their story.”Wallace cares for all parts of the shoe, right down to the felt soles. She explains the slippers were lined with felt so they make minimal noise during dancing scenes. It’s those scenes that generations of fans, including Wallace, remember vividly.“I think everyone always gets up they click their heels, and they get with their friends and family and they skip arm in arm.,” says Wallace. “And so, I think it—it hits you.”As they return to public display today, they’re doing so amid renewed interest, thanks to the FBI’s announcement last month that they found another pair used in filming. That pair was stolen 13 years ago.In fact, the agency even asked Wallace, who is now an authority on the chemical makeup of the shoes, to examine the recovered pair. She says she felt like a character from another movie.“I almost wanna say it’s a little like Indiana Jones,” recalls Wallace. “It was very thrilling, but it also made me feel very proud knowing I’m helping return these stolen items.”Wallace says she was worried about what the slippers would look like after being stolen over a decade ago, but she says they were recovered in similar condition to the other pair.“Just using a little bit of water and small cotton swabs, being able to remove that dirt just really brought the shine back to the beads,” Wallace says of the restoration process.After a couple of years out of public view, the slippers will now be back on display for fans to see. 2622
