SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Governor Gavin Newsom and the state Attorney General California officials served a cease-and-desist letter to two San Diego strip clubs operating amid the state's stay-at-home order.The letter to the attorneys representing Pacers Showgirls and Cheetahs Gentleman's Club said the state has been informed the locations are operating indoors despite restrictions forcing restaurants to offer only take-out and delivery services under the order.The letter was sent by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom and the Department of Public Health."We are informed and believe that MIDWAY AND F-12 are continuing to conduct indoor operations notwithstanding the Regional Stay at Home Order currently in effect in the County of San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Flames shot out a window of a Spring Valley apartment that caught fire Thursday morning.The fire broke out at the home in the 10,000 block of Austin Drive about 10 a.m.No one was injured but the family who lives there says their cat died in the fire."I heard the beep beep beep and ran up the stairs," said Jacquline Amey, "I looked in the other room it was all smoky - opened the closet and it was engulfed in flames."San Miguel, Heartland, La Mesa firefighters and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department assisted in the emergency.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  636

Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that a rise in coronavirus cases is worrying, and warned counties to heed statewide precautions and enforce them.He doubled down on his warning, saying if individual counties did not enforce the state's guidance, they can lose funding."We cannot support bad behaviors, but we want to encourage and support good behavior," Newsom said. "And if counties simply are going to (flout) the rules and regulations that they attested to, the information that they put online and said, `We agreed to this criteria.' ... If they decide, `well, you know what, even though the numbers are going up, we're done, we've got this, we're just going to ... dismiss these new rules and regulations' -- we're going to attach some considerations, some consequences to that. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the first time in San Diego Zoo history, an echidna baby, commonly referred to as a puggle, has hatched at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Zoo officials say the tiny animal is estimated to have hatched on Feb. 14, 2020. Echidnas only breed once a year, before the mother lays an egg about the size of a grape and keeps it in a pouch in her abdomen. After seven to 10 days, a tiny puggle smaller than a jelly bean hatches. It attached itself to hairs within the mother's pouch, where it feeds on milk. Around six to eight weeks old, the puggle develops spike spines and the mother places it in a specially made nursing where she feeds it every three to six days.The puggle's mother, named Orange, and father, Shaw, also reside at the Safari Park. The tiny, spiny Australians species will spend most of its day sleeping, growing, and developing in its burrow.“We are thrilled and excited to welcome our first-ever echidna puggle at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park,” said Savanna Smith, wildlife care specialist, San Diego Zoo Safari Park. “It is an honor to care for this little one, as we learn more about this species’ reproduction through this puggle’s hatching. Mom and puggle are doing extremely well, and we will continue to monitor the puggle’s progress until it is ready to venture out on its own.”Echidnas are one of only two Australian mammals that lay eggs, the other being a platypus. They are notoriously difficult to breed in managed care, the zoo adds, making this even more momentous for the zoo.The sex of the animal has yet to be determined.It is expected that the young puggle will start venturing out on its own at about six to seven months old.
