SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video reveals a City Heights man was seconds away from a showdown with an armed intruder who got away with a "priceless" stone.Along 41st Street, past 6 p.m. Friday, a man whose face is hidden by a bandanna, was recorded creeping into D.R. Peck's back yard from a canyon. "The full mask is the scary part. Notice he has gloves," said Peck.In the video, the burglar discovers an unlocked door and enters a bedroom. More than 10 minutes later, he emerges with a briefcase. He drops it off before heading back inside. Not long after, the cameras show Peck wheeling in the trash can near the front of the home after returning home from running errands. At the same time, the intruder — likely hearing Peck return — bails out of the house through the back entrance. A flash of a knife seen in his hand."I walk in and see a mess ... Oh my God. Someone's been in my house," said Peck.Amid the ransacked bedroom, there were missing items: electronics, a special edition "The Flash" comic book worth more than 0, jewelry, and a red heart stone that he bought for his wife Wendy 10 years ago after proposing. It wasn't expensive, but it was priceless."She knew she was loved, exactly what I was wanting to say to her," said Peck.The two were only married for 27 days before Wendy died after a battle with ovarian cancer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Grinch is back yet again to steal Christmas from San Diego.The Old Globe Theatre's production of "Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" returns to San Diego for its run from Nov. 4 to Dec. 24. Back for its 20th year, the holiday classic brings Whoville to the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in Balboa Park. The Grinch, played by Edward Watts, will embark on a quest to stop Christmas from gracing the town of Whoville, featuring the songs "This Time of Year," "Santa for a Day," and "Fah Who Doraze."RELATED: Holiday family fun around San Diego this seasonBut the action isn't just on the stage.On Sunday, Nov. 12, the show will kick off with the 12th annual tree lighting outside the Globe with a special performance by the cast for free. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The non-profit organization Border Angels hosted its 32nd-anniversary dinner on Saturday. The dinner raises money to help continue providing the services they offer to immigrants in the community, including water drops for border crossers, legal services, and shelter. The migrant caravan and the upcoming election were hot topics of conversation during the dinner. This year the organization honorees were Margarita Zavala, Kirsten Zittlau and Jacqueline Arellano. Zavala and Zittlau are attorneys. Arellano is the water drop coordinator for Border Angels. Border Angels' founder Enrique Morones tells 10News that he decided to honor women this year. He also encouraged everyone to go out and vote on November 6th saying the president is sending the wrong message about immigrants. Guests at the event also reacted to President Donald Trump deploying the military to the border. At a campaign event, the president was not backing down, saying migrants need to come to the U.S. legally.   1051

Then, as he understood the context, his frustration disintegrated, concerned more with the fact Heitmann never got help. "I feel for the family in that case. He, you know, nobody should have to go through that."That, referring to the loss of someone integrated into the fabric of your daily life, "I would always try to go and make a phone call to mom about how my day went, which is what I would do when I was away at training for the Air Force. I would call my family and let them know how my day is going, and that took a while to learn I can't do that anymore," he said.
