The American Bar Association will no longer review its "well qualified" rating of Justice Brett Kavanaugh now that the Senate confirmed him, an ABA official told CNN Monday.The official, who declined to speak on the record, cited an ABA policy of ending its rating process once a nominee is confirmed."Per the published policy and historical practice of the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, once a justice or judge is confirmed, the Standing Committee's rating process is closed," the ABA's website states.The group had previously said that because of the allegations against Kavanaugh of sexual assault and conduct during his September 27 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, it would reevaluate its rating. TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The first federal execution in 17 years is on hold after a U.S. judge ordered a new delay in federal executions.Daniel Lewis Lee, of Yukon, Oklahoma, was scheduled to be executed at 4 p.m. Monday at the Federal Correctional Institution in Terre Haute, Indiana.A U.S. district judge ordered a new delay in federal executions on Monday morning. Lee's execution had previously been been suspended late Friday following a decision by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.The Trump administration immediately appealed, asking a higher court to allow the executions to move forward, according to The Associated Press.Lee is one of four people who are scheduled to be executed at the federal penitentiary in Terre Haute. Suspended Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer apologized on Friday, two days after Meyer failed to apologize to Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of fired OSU assistant coach Zach Smith.Meyer was suspended for three games on Wednesday by Ohio State's Board of Trustees and university president Michael Drake for mishandling notifying the university of allegations that Zach Smith had assaulted his wife in 2015. Meyer claimed to investigators that he had forgotten about the allegations as university officials claimed Meyer was bound by his contract to notify the department's compliance office of possible crimes involving his staff. At a news conference on Wednesday where Meyer's punishment was announced, Meyer was asked if he had anything to say to Courtney Smith. "I have a message for everyone involved in this. I'm sorry that we are in the situation. And I'm just sorry we are in this situation," Meyer replied, without mentioning Courtney Smith by name. After being criticized for failing to address Courtney Smith, Meyer issued a statement on Friday, apologizing to her.  1116

TEMPLE, TX — The body of a missing Fort Hood soldier is believed to have been found along railroad tracks in Temple, Texas.The Temple Police Department says around 5:36 p.m. on Tuesday, a call was received in reference to a medical call along railroad tracks.A caller advised that a man was observed near the railroad tracks. When officers arrived, it was determined the man had been dead for some period of time.Identification found at the scene indicates the victim may be missing Fort Hood soldier 23-year-old Elder Fernandes. However, no forensic confirmation has been made at this time.Sgt. Fernandes was last seen on Monday, August 17 and reported missing on Wednesday, August 19.Temple PD says at this stage of the investigation, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation is ongoing.Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield has ordered an autopsy, and next of kin has been notified."Our thoughts and prayers are with the Fernandes family during this challenging time," Temple Police Chief Shawn Reynolds said.Temple PD is the lead agency in the death investigation. The department is working in conjunction with Fort Hood and Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Divisions.
