Chipotle is scrapping chorizo from its menu.A spokesperson for the Mexican chain restaurant said in an email that chorizo made up less than three-percent of the companies sales, compared to the other meats offered like steak, chicken and barbacoa.As the company was testing its recently-added queso dip in Colorado and California, it was also testing chorizo. One market sold both queso and chorizo while the other sold queso."Our aim in doing that was to get a sense for customer reaction and operational efficiencies," the spokesperson said. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District is tightening its belt on the budget. On the table is a plan to not replace dozens of positions and cut bus routes. Critics say the move could leave hundreds of students without a ride to school. The board meets Tuesday night to finalize the plan to save money. One of the biggest moves on the table is not replacing some 80 positions within the district. Positions on the chopping block include assistant superintendent positions and nine bus drivers. No one within the district will be at risk of losing their jobs. Instead, the positions won’t be replaced after employees retire. Roughly 300 employees already chose to take an early retirement. The district also plans to eliminate 30 bus routes next school year that will save half a million dollars per year. Four of the districts 13 high schools will be affected by the route cuts. Several parents say they were blindsided by the news. "Out here we have year round schooling, so schools going to be starting for us in July. That’s just a couple months to figure out for parents that are working how they're going to change their schedules and if they can't then these kids are left to fend for themselves,” said Sara McIntosh. The district says Sweetwater is one of a few districts that still offers bus service. Many districts cut it years ago when the state stopped requiring it. CINCINNATI — Cross-country runner Justin Gallegos is making history. He’s the first athlete with cerebral palsy to sign an endorsement contract with Nike. The University of Oregon junior was given the news last weekend after a college race, and he was visibly touched by achieving his dream of becoming a professional runner. Justin’s parents, Brent and Tracy Gallegos, say they’re proud all Justin has worked to achieve, and were stunned to see him in that moment."I’ve never seen him that emotional ever…..ever," Brent Gallegos said.Justin’s condition affects muscle and motor function, but he didn’t let that stop him."He works very hard for it and when he sets his goals, he sets them very high," Tracy Gallegos said.His story of overcoming obstacles is inspiring others. He was a big topic of conversation among some medical professionals attending a three-day conference for the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine hosted by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. "To show the world that we really can be successful and contribute in some way to society and that we’re valuable," said Dr. Raffi Najarian, who has cerebral palsy.He hopes stories like Justin’s will inspire others."It’s great to see because it’s something that we have seen, you know, up to this point," Najarian said.As for Justin, he has a message for everyone: "You don’t have to let your disability or physical impairments stop you." 1440

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - A DUI/Driver's License checkpoint at one of Chula Vista's busiest intersections led to three arrests, police said.The Chula Vista Police Department said officers screened 751 vehicles at the checkpoint which was was conducted between 7 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Palomar Street.Police said the three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition to the three arrests, police impounded nine vehicles and issued 21 citations for people driving without licenses or on suspended licenses. No other details were released.A total of 51 citations were issued for "various vehicle code violations," according to police."DUI/Drivers License checkpoints have been shown to lower DUI deaths and injuries. A major component of these checkpoints are the deterrent effects it has on those who might drive drunk or drugged impaired, bringing about more awareness and encouraging everyone to use sober designated drivers," the Chula Vista Police Department said in a release.More than 1,300 cars traveled through the checkpoint, police said.The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration."The Chula Vista PD will be conducting additional DUI/Drivers License Checkpoints through out the remainder of the year in our ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries upon our streets and highways," police said. 1505

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Laurence and Cherryl Lector's two small children were eager to show off their costumes and hit up their neighborhood for sweets. But the couple didn't want to abandon their home on Baywood Circle in Chula Vista and disappoint the several trick-or-treaters likely to stop by for confectionery.So, the couple filled a large candy bowl hoping their security camera -- fixed visibly in their porch -- would keep visitors honest.  The family then set off on their haunts.The Lectors phones were buzzing with video alerts showing little ghosts and ghouls digging through the self-serve candy bowl and respecting the Halloween honor system.Then they received a video showing an esurient group of older kids, and one small girl, emptying out the dish into their bags."I was devastated someone could just get all the candy and ruin the night [for other trick-or-treaters]," said Laurence Lector.One of the kids noticed the camera and even pointed it out to someone else in the group, but the kids continued to snatch all of the treats until every sweet was gone."We were disappointed that those that came afterward came to an empty bowl," Cherryl Castro-Lector told said.About an hour later, they received a video from their camera that warmed their hearts.The video shows a girl and boy investigating the empty bowl.  They must've known that the night wasn't over for other little trick-or-treaters. So, the group took turns emptying their own their treats into the bowl, starting with their mom."I got a little teary eyed.  Gosh, I hope my kids are like that someday," Castro-Lector said. "I would have hugged those little kids and mom if I were there."The Lectors are eager to find these children and their parents to say thanks.  "I would love to meet them and thank them for being so kind.
