SAN ONOFRE (KGTV) -- Police chased a domestic violence suspect from Los Angeles County to San Diego County Thursday night. The driver, who has family in Tijuana, was believe to be heading to the border, according to our ABC affiliate in L.A.?At one point, the suspect may have ran over a spike strip, slowing him down. Once near the Camp Pendleton area police attempted two pit maneuvers. Shortly after the suspect drove off the freeway and into the brush, where he ultimately turned off the car and exited his vehicle. Police were able to take him into custody around 11:20 p.m. and began to search the vehicle. *This is a developing story. 10News will continue to update as more details unfold.  730

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A 3-month-old golden retriever puppy with a price tag of ,700 was stolen from a pet shop Thursday night in Santee.That’s according to Sharon Franco, the owner of Pups and Pets, who has surveillance video of an unidentified man grabbing the dog while in a play-pen and running out the front door.The man had been in the store earlier but came back a second time and asked to play with the golden retriever puppy, said Franco.He played with it for about 5 minutes before he picked it up and ran out of the store.Two employees tried to run after him but said a car was waiting outside. They described it as an older model Audi with Florida plates.Anyone with information is urged to call the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. 754

Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said in an MSNBC interview late Thursday that she is no longer interested in being Joe Biden’s running mate in this fall’s presidential election.Klobuchar was considered among the favorites to be pegged as Biden’s running mate. On Thursday, she took her name out of the running.Klobuchar cited her desire to see a woman of color as part of the reason she is taking herself out of the running. Biden, who previously said he would likely choose a woman as his running mate, has received pressure to choose a minority to be his running mate in the weeks since the death of George Floyd.With Klobuchar’s past as a prosecutor, and given Floyd was killed by officers in Klobuchar’s home state, many pundits believed her viability as a running mate dropped.“After what I have seen in my state, what I have seen across the country, this is a historic moment,” Klobuchar said. “America must seize on this moment and I truly believe, as I told the vice president last night, I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket."According to an Associated Press report last week, Sen. Kamala Harris and former National Security Advisor Susan Rice were among those being vetted.Klobuchar joined Biden in a crowded Democratic field vying for the party’s presidential nomination. (KGTV) - Surveillace video shows thieves stuffing a car after breaking into a popular Santee restaurant hit hard by the pandemic and a recent tragedy.Every time restaurant owner Maria Dellarsina looks at the surveillance video she gets anxious."All kinds of emotions. I feel angry, and I feel sad," said Dellarsina.The roller coaster of emotions began after a Thanksgiving morning break-in. The 43-year old Jimmy's Restaurant of Santee was ransacked by thieves. The HVAC access on the roof is the likely entry point.Video shows three people stuffing items into their car, as they helped themselves to whatever they wanted."They took food, liquor, checks, cash, laptop computer, and sports memorabilia," said Dellarsina.The items stolen were just part of the loss. The thieves also cut the power and left the refrigerators open, so all the food had to be tossed."When I saw food going into the trash is when I broke down," said Dellarsina.The total loss more than ,000.The restaurant had to be shut down for a few days, including the day after Thanksgiving, their busiest day of the year."One thing after another ... devastation," said Dellarsina.Beginning in March, restaurant was shut down for months during the pandemic. In May, her husband and co-owner John, passed away from lung cancer."I didn't know if I wanted to open again. We did it. I got my strength back to continue his legacy, but it's hard on us.So far, the pandemic has slashed revenues by more than 60%. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV)— A Santee family is praying for recovery and justice, as their mother remains on life-support. She was the victim of a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night. 10News spoke to Richard Johnson. His mother Julie Johnson and sister in law, Jayme Morton-Johnson were the victims of the hit-and-run.According to Richard Johnson, Wednesday at around 8 pm, they heard a commotion outside their home. Johnson said Julie ran outside and saw a neighbor boy getting beaten by three teenage boys.  Julie's other son, Robert, who is also Jayme's husband, says he was making dinner when his mother called him outside because of the altercation.  Robert stepped in to help break up the fight. They, and a neighbor, were able to put an end to it, but the teens ran into the car. “(Julie) always had a heart out for people are hurt or hears somebody in need, she acts right away, and that’s what she did," Richard Johnson said of his mother. As the suspects made their get-away, they sped onto the curb, hit the women, and flung them onto the street. “Jayme rolled off the side of the car with little injury," Johnson said. "And my mom flew off the car, and the impact was deadly. “Jayme was released from the hospital Thursday."The only thing I recall is seeing that drivers eyes and him hitting us and that’s when we grabbed each other, and by no means do I see it being an accident," she said.Jayme is expected to make a full recovery. Julie Johnson was not so lucky. The impact sent her flying 40 feet. Her brain is now non-responsive. An oxygen machine is the only thing keeping her alive. San Diego County Sheriffs Department said within two hours, they found the get-away car at Sonrise Community Church just two miles south of the crash. The owner of the vehicle then turned in one of the passengers, a 16-year-old boy, who was booked into juvenile hall for Felony hit-and-run. The two other teens have not been arrested. "I just want them to turn themselves in and give justice to my mother in law," Jayme said.“An irresponsible decision can end somebody’s life," Johnson said. While Johnson and his family wait for an arrest, they also pray. They said that is the only thing that may save their matriarch."The only thing they can do is hope from God that she will come back," Johnson said. "I’ve been praying that he’ll give her a chance.
