It’s Saturday night service at Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana. As parishioners pack the pews, they start singing about the power of giving. Preaching from the pulpit, senior pastor Steve Poe focuses the night’s sermon on how small donations can have a big impacts.This Indiana-based church is truly helping their neighbors in need! Members of this congregation raised ,000 in donations and used that money to help pay off more than .6 million of medical debt for Indiana citizens.“That will have an impact on 2,500 people or more,” says Poe.With Poe's church buying 30 percent of all medical debt in seven different zip codes across greater Indiana, the pastor says this is financial rehabilitation through religion. In a few weeks, the families whose debts will be covered will receive letters. “What that does then, it will notify their creditors that their debt has been cleared, which gives them the opportunity to start again without this damaging debt," Poe says. "Without this debt hanging over their heads."Northview Church worked with the organization RIP Medical Debt to purchase debt at pennies on the dollar. Founder Craig Antico explains how it works, and why they don’t know the names of the people that they’ve helped. “RIP Medical Debt abolishes medical debt for the poor and those in hardship,” Antico says. “The way that we do it is we go and buy medical debt from either hospitals, doctors, or even the collector investors to buy the debt to make them nonprofit.”A study in the American Journal of Public Health found that medical debt contributes to two-thirds of bankruptcy filings. So, debt relief like this can be life changing. “I could not come up with any words; I was so caught off guard,” says Lisa Sole, who is a recipient of a Northview Church donation. Sole used ,500 dollars to cover medical bills and other debt.“When you are granted the gift of debt being taken away from you, the amount of stress that it relieves off of your body is so healing,” she says.With that kind of healing, Sole was inspired to pass it on and pay it forward, saying it’s truly better to give than receive. “It’s exciting to see the next person’s acceptance and how they’re excited compared to us and the feeling you get,” she says. 2266

Until now.New Hampshire asked Auger, in a letter she received August 16, to surrender her plate because it includes a phrase relating to "sexual or excretory acts or functions," said Auger."I'm not a political activist," she said. "But this is a non-offensive thing that I've had and it's part of who we are as a family and who I am and there was zero reason for them to take it away."The recall letter said Auger had 10 days to surrender her plate with the option to chose another vanity plate at no extra cost or have one assigned to her.If Auger chose to get a regular plate, a portion of her vanity plate fee would be refunded to her, according to the letter.After hearing about Auger's situation from a mutual friend, New Hampshire Gov. Lawrence County, Indiana, prosecutors filed criminal charges Thursday against a Mitchell Community Schools nurse for stealing students' medication and ingesting it herself.Carol Sanders is charged with felony official misconduct, felony neglect of a dependent and five counts of misdemeanor theft.Police arrested Sanders Thursday and she was booked into the Lawrence County Jail.A staff member at Burris Elementary launched an investigation earlier this month after medication belonging to students went missing.Sanders admitted to stealing amphetamines, Ritalin, Zyrtec and other medications from students at Burris Elementary and Hatfield Elementary.The school nurse also admitted to replacing some of the students’ medications with baby aspirin.Sanders said she stole the medications between February 25 and March 7 of 2019, court records show.“Carol stated she stole the medication because she is an addict,” read the probable cause affidavit. “Carol admitted to needing help with her addiction.”Carol Sanders also admitted that this is not the first time she’s been terminated from a nursing job for stealing and ingesting medication.Sanders said she omitted that information to the school district during the hiring process.Superintendent Dr. Mike Wilcox said the district performed an expanded criminal history check and no prior history was reported.Wilcox provided the following statement. “The Mitchell Community School Family is deeply concerned about this event. This, or any other, issue that forces us to question the safety of any Mitchell student immediately becomes our top priority. Our outstanding school administrators and school resource officer responded firmly, fairly, and in a timely manner. The parents of our students effected by this event, who were contacted immediately and have shown remarkable support. Mrs. Sanders is no longer employed by Mitchell Community Schools. ISLAMABAD — A senior U.S. State Department official says the seven-day “reduction of violence" deal promised by the Taliban will begin “tonight," without specifying the exact time. That will start the countdown to the signing of a peace agreement between the Taliban and the United States at the end of the month.
