LONDON — A woman was killed and at least four other people were injured when a 65-foot crane collapsed in east London, authorities say.The London Fire Brigade says the crane fell onto a block of apartments under development and two houses on Wednesday. The brigade says the deceased woman was found on the first floor of one of the houses and confirmed dead at the scene.The London Ambulance Service has confirmed that two people have been taken to hospital with head injuries and two others were treated at the scene.The brigade’s assistant commissioner, Graham Ellis, says urban search and rescue crews were undertaking “a complex rescue operation” and using specialized equipment to search the properties, including a drone to provide aerial imagery.Crews and a team of specialist paramedics who work in hazardous environments were also at the scene in the Bow neighborhood. Gavin Newsom announced a new process for reopening businesses that is slower and more gradual than what the state tried earlier this summer.The new rules create a four-tier, color-coded system that counties will move through based on their number of cases and percentage of positive tests.It will rely on two metrics to determine which tier a county is in: case rates and the percentage of positive tests.The state's website says:"Every county in California is assigned to a tier based on its rate of new cases and positivity. At a minimum, counties must remain in a tier for at least 3 weeks before moving forward. Data is reviewed weekly and tiers are updated on Tuesdays. To move forward, a county must meet the next tier’s criteria for two consecutive weeks. If a county’s metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned a more restrictive tier. Public health officials are constantly monitoring data and can step in if necessary."Based on the state’s new tool, San Diego County is in the red Substantial tier, and while the system allows certain businesses to reopen, individual counties can issue more stringent restrictions that could keep those businesses closed or restricted to outdoor operations.As of Aug. 28, the tool shows San Diego County businesses such as nail salons, hair salons/barbershops, and gyms/fitness centers are able to reopen indoor operations -- with modifications under industry guidance -- by Aug. 31.Restaurants can reopen for indoor dine-in service with modifications and capacity limits, the state’s tool shows.Breweries and bars/pubs that do not serve food remain closed under the new guidelines.When it comes to schools in San Diego County, in-person learning is still prohibited. LONG BEACH (CNS) - Three former Long Beach Police Department officers wrote violent threats against Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King on a private Facebook page for California law enforcement officers, police confirmed Thursday.King, in an article he penned on Medium, said a private Facebook group for California law enforcement officers had members using their real names and "openly plotting and planning (his) assassination."Screenshots included in the Medium article show current and former officers of various California agencies saying "Toss this guy from a helicopter," "Need a sniper," "Shaun King needs to be put down," "I recommend retro active birth control, or post birth abortion, whatever you wanna call it," and other threats apparently aimed at King.According to King, the threats began with retired Long Beach Police Officer Laura Tartgaglione, who allegedly wrote, "The man who put this tweet out today is a FOUNDING MEMBER OF BLM, he also introduced Bernie Sanders at his attempted presidential run. I think (California) needs to start putting a team together of retired military, police and NRA MEMBERS! We have no protection. These criminals that the Democrats created need to be stopped."Information regarding the threats were sent to the Long Beach Police Department's Investigations Bureau for an internal review and recommendations regarding a criminal investigation, the department said. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Panorama City girl is suing the Walt Disney Co. alleging she contracted Legionnaire's disease after a visit to Disneyland in 2017 to celebrate her mother's birthday.The girl's Los Angeles Superior Court negligence suit, filed Wednesday, seeks unspecified damages.
