SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One San Diego restaurant has been awarded one of the most prestigious accolades given to eateries.Chef William Bradley's restaurant Addison at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar was given one Michelin star in the guide's first California edition. The guide awards between one and three stars to restaurants, meaning either "a very good restaurant in its category" (one star), "excellent cooking, worth a detour" (two stars), or "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey" (three stars).Addison, a contemporary French restaurant, was San Diego's only restaurant to receive a star and one of 90 to receive at least one star in the California guide.RELATED: Michelin names several San Diego restaurants as 'hidden gems'In a statement to 10News, Bradley said the award is "humbling." "We are honored to be recognized by Michelin during this seminal year in California. Since opening Addison in 2006, we have devoted ourselves to the pursuit of excellence and will continue to find inspiration from that relentless commitment, offering each guest a superlative, personalized dining experience," Bradely, the restaurant's director and executive chef, said. "Michelin’s acknowledgment of our team’s dedication to service and our craft is humbling, and we look forward to championing and aspiring toward the high standards the Guide represents in the year ahead.”Addison isn't the only local restaurant to receive recognition from the Michelin guide. Several restaurants were honored as "Bib Gourmand" establishments — "hidden gems" of San Diego.San Diego's Campfire, Cucina Sorella, Cucina Urbana, El Jardin, Juniper & Ivy, Kettner Exchange, Lola 55, and Solare were hailed for their "high-quality" menus for or less. The eight local restaurants will join 151 other Bib Gourmand picks in California's 2019 edition. The Michelin guide has been published since the early 20th century and is regarded as the oldest restaurant guide. Originally, publishers distributed the guide to provide travelers information on local hotels, restaurants, gas stations, mechanics, and maps.In 2005, Michelin published its first U.S. guide for New York City, covering hundreds of restaurants and hotels throughout the city's boroughs. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- On July 3, visitors will once again be able to ignite their minds in the world of science and curiosity, as the exhibits at the Fleet Science center in Balboa Park will be open for exploration."We're very excited to welcome everyone back into our building," says Fleet Center Communications Manager Karla Nafarrate. "We just can't wait until the exhibit gets going, as well as the theater. We've missed everyone so much."The Fleet Science Center is a hands-on museum, and because of that, major safety precautions will be in place. That would include reduced capacity, visitors must wear face masks, and social distancing. Add to that, the entire museum will be sanitized before it's opening."The coolest part is that we have a sanitizer that cleans everything, and gets rid of any little bacteria. Anything that might be on any surface. it's kind of like a Ghostbuster machine."From exhibits like Kids City, to the Whisper Dishes, and Space Theater, it's time to get back to the knowledge and fun of learning about science."Not only the kids," says Nafarrate, "but also the kids at heart. Although we're a little more cautious about that right now, we still want to have a good experience."If your are planning on making a trip to the Fleet Science Center, they are encouraging you purchase tickets online. 1336

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police and other credit card experts are warning of a new scam being used to steal bank card information and PINs.Earlier this month, police arrested four people who installed small cameras on ATMs. They say there could be more.Experts say stand-alone ATMs at stores or in parking lots are the most enticing targets for the thieves, as are drive-up ATMs."Whenever we come up with a way to figure out how to thwart it, then the crooks can figure out how to zig past that zag," says SDSU Fowler College of Business Lecturer Steven Andres.Andres says the best thing people can do is avoid using cards altogether. Andres says to use apps like Apple Pay, which don't send any bank information during transactions."They don't actually send your real credit card number to the vendor that you're working with. Instead, a random number gets sent that's only valid for that transaction at that vendor on that minute of the day. So in the future if that vendor has their computer system hacked, that number's completely worthless," Andres says.Otherwise, Andres says to use a credit card instead of a debit card, that way you can dispute a charge and not have to wait for the stolen money to be put back in your account. He also advises people to stay away from drive-up ATMs where it's more difficult to cover your PIN as you type it in. 1354
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking that additional victims come forward in a San Diego sexual assault case. According to police, Seth Roberts, 18, was arrested on December 5 for multiple sexual assaults around San Diego County that happened between early October and late November. Based on the circumstances of the cases, the San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit is looking for additional victims or anyone with information. According to police, Roberts reportedly identified himself to young women and befriended them by telling them he’s from out-of-state before sexually assaulting them. According to public records, Roberts was previously arrested in Oklahoma for harboring a runaway child felon. Records also show that in April of 2018, a permanent protective order was issued against Roberts in Oklahoma. The order was filed on behalf of a 16-year-old who says Roberts inappropriately touched her even after she asked him to stop. The protective order goes on to say the victim's mother wanted criminal charges filed, but none are listed. He is currently being held on ,250,000 bail. Anyone with information is asked to call SDPD at 619-531-2210 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1208
