(KGTV) – The Drug Enforcement Administration in Los Angeles County announced a record-breaking seizure of narcotics on Wednesday.The DEA’s Los Angeles Division stated agents seized about 893 pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of heroin, and 2,224 pounds of methamphetamine.The meth seizure is the largest domestic methamphetamine seizure in DEA history, officials said.DEA Acting Administrator Timothy Shea said, "This is enough dope to prove a dose of meth for every man, women and child in the United States and Mexico. Study after study shows that where there is meth addiction, there is also an uptick in violent crime, including robberies, assaults and murders."Operation Crystal Shield is a nationwide effort involving 70 to 80 investigators in nine cities including Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and Atlanta. Agents seized more than 4,800 pounds of meth nationwide and are still working on more arrests, according to the DEA.The Southern California seizure occurred on Oct. 2, 2020, officials said. Agents from Southwest Border Group 2 began investigating a large-scale drug trafficking organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel in SD Otay-Mesa area, allegedly involved in the transportation and delivery of large quantities of drugs.The investigation led to search warrants at multiple narcotic stash houses in Moreno Valley and Perris in Riverside County, officials said.The drugs were intended for distribution in Southern California, including Los Angeles, according to DEA officials, who displayed the haul at the agency's warehouse in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles County.City News Service contributed to this report 1645

If you're new to surfing, you'll definitely be using some muscles you haven't used before so limber up!Space outBetween your foot and your board's leash, there's plenty of room for your board to get in someone's way and vice-versa. Make sure you have enough room between yourself once you go for a wave. That last thing you want before wiping out is to send your board into someone or catch someone else's board yourself.Don't ruin a waveBefore you paddle out, check the situation. There may be someone hurdling toward you and about to catch a wave. Point being, get your bearings on where others are currently. Paddle out between breaks and you'll be less likely to run into someone.Don't drop inIf you're not paying attention, you may end up on the same wave as another surfer. This can lead to two things, a collision or having to bail out of the wave. Either way, it's bad news. Apologize if you accidentally end up in the situation, but be aware of your surroundings.Spotting a ripRip currents can be a real danger whether you're swimming or surfing. Know how to spot a rip current and where you're allowed to surf, and make sure you're within view of a lifeguard. If you're caught in a rip current, experts say it's important to stay calm. Float, wave your arms and yell to get the attention of a lifeguard or people on shore. 1895

(KGTV) — Two people killed in a Christmas Eve. crash on State Route 78 in Ramona have been identified by San Diego's medical examiner.Christian Diaz, a minor, and Gonzalo Rodriguez, 44, died Monday in collided head-on collision on SR-78 near W. Haverford Road just after 11 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.The county medical examiner said Rodriguez was driving westbound on SR-78 when he lost control of the Toyota Camry he was driving and crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding with the truck. Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.RELATED: CHP: Child killed in head-on collision on SR-78 in RamonaRodriguez was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.Two other occupants of the Camry — a woman and another young boy — and the 77-year-old driver of the pickup truck were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries of unknown severity, according to CHP.
