SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some seniors say they’re hitting a frustrating roadblock of red tape at the DMV. They say health concerns aside, the state has made getting into a field office to complete requirements impossible.Although many DMV tasks can be completed online, the agency requires an in-person visit for several types of service. Once drivers hit the age of 70, the DMV requires them to renew their licenses in-person to take vision and knowledge tests.The DMV has granted drivers aged 70 and up a four-month extension to renew licenses, but only for licenses that expire through July 31. But the DMV isn’t offering new appointments, as it works through the backlog of visits that were canceled during the months-long closure. The DMV is only accepting walk-ups for a handful for services, and not for seniors seeking license renewal.“It's ridiculous and I think the governor should do something,” she said.The agency has been opaque about when it will begin accepting new appointments. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police released a photo Friday of a suspect wanted in the death of a woman in Point Loma.Joe Bennette Conway, 41, shot the unidentified woman in the parking lot of 4013 W. Point Loma Blvd. late on the night of October 9, police said.911 dispatchers received a call about the shooting. Police units found a woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital, where she died.Police identified Conway as the murder suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest. Conway is 5’7” tall and 150 pounds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Southwest announced Tuesday that the company is offering Californians a special deal on travel throughout the state. Southwest says travelers can buy one-way tickets as low as , but you better be on your toes. The sale only lasts until August 22. According to Southwest: "Purchase from August 21 through August 22, 2018, 11:59 p.m. in the respective time zone of the originating city."The tickets are for travel from September 11, 2018 through February 13, 2019. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University reported at least 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The total of positive cases among students since the first day of school is now up to 20. The university says the most of the students that tested positive live off campus. Only three of the students were living on campus. Two of the students are in isolation on campus. The third student is isolating somewhere else. In a letter sent out to staff and students, school officials say the majority of the students didn't interact with any SDSU employees or go to any of the shared campus spaces. One student did briefly visit the school bookstore. San Diego State started the school year on Aug. 24, mostly with online classes. There are 2,600 students living on campus. County officials confirm they have started outbreak investigations and are working closely with the school. Over the weekend, SDSU announced they had hired security to patrol the campus from Thursday to Sunday, after hours, to monitor for any COVID-19 violations on campus. Students told ABC 10News they think the school is doing the best they can in response to COVID-19. They say they are more concerned about things in housing off campus.
