The Del Cerro and Torrey Highlands are the best San Diego neighborhoods for renters, according to HotPads.Analysts evaluated rental size and price per square foot. San Diego’s median rental size is 1,154 feet, and renters can expect to spend .32 per square foot of space.The median rental size in Torrey Highlands is 2,033 square feet, at .14 per square foot, HotPads reported. Del Cerro residents pay .77 per square foot, with a median rental size of 1,710 square feet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It’s a win-win situation: a sale on airfares out of San Diego, with an ultimate destination of Hawaii. Southwest Airlines opened its flight schedule Wednesday for once-daily service out of San Diego. The flights travel to Kahului, Maui, starting Apr. 14, 2020. Flights to Honolulu begin Apr. 20, 2020, Southwest reports. Fares as low as 9 each way will be available on both routes for travel between Apr. 14 and June 4, 2020, according to the airline. The tickets must be purchased Oct. 30. "We're grateful for the steadfast loyalty of our San Diego Customers and we're adding a Southwest heading to their compass of nonstop options," said Andrew Watterson, Executive Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer for Southwest Airlines. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Kevin Luo of Pacific Trails Middle School has been crowned the winner of the 2018 countywide spelling bee. The event began at 9 a.m. at the McMillin Companies Event Center at Liberty Station and lasted for nearly four hours. Last year’s local winner was Pacific Trails Middle School student Yash Hande. Yash advanced to the 90th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local health care workers are seeing a massive number of at-risk patients through virtual visits amid concerns over COVID-19. “We've gone from having 100 visits a day [by phone or video] to 1,200 visits just yesterday alone, says Dr. Abi Olulade with San Diego's Sharp Rees-Stealy Group. She and hundreds of doctors with Sharp Healthcare are putting a special emphasis on telehealth appointments with patients who are considered at-risk because their immune systems can be weaker. It was supposed to roll out over the next 18 months, but with COVID-19, it's compressed into a few weeks. “The immuno-compromised, transplant patients, heart failure patients or cancer patients.
