A mother charged with killing her two young sons by placing them in an oven and turning it on was expected to appear in court on Monday but was not at the appearance.Investigators say 24 year-old Lamora Williams put her sons, ages two and one, into an oven and turned it on. The toddlers, 1-year-old Jakarter Penn and 2-year-old Keyounte Penn, had burns on their bodies when police found them at the Oakland City West End Apartments in Atlanta.Lamora Williams' family said she struggled most of her life with mental issues and may have been dealing with postpartum at the time of the incident.It’s a tragedy which her sister thinks could have been prevented.“She had issues and the fact that the state failed her, that’s a problem,” said Tabitha Hollingworth.Plus, family say the writing was on the wall. She routinely left her children home alone and had even attempted to cut her wrists.Wearing dark sunglasses to hide her tears, Brenda Williams is saddened, but not surprised that her daughter is now charged with murder.“Mora wasn’t right, she hasn’t been right and what happened three months ago, that the kids father left her, I told him something tragic is going to happen. She’s going to do something to those kids, she’s going to do something to herself,” said Brenda Williams.Williams is charged with two counts of murder and one count of cruelty to children in the first degree. A massive outage has wiped out power to Puerto Rico's capital San Juan.The problem is with a failure on a main north-south transmission line, said Fernando Padilla, an official with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, known as PREPA."It was a mechanical issue on the line, could have happened at any line," he said. A recent study published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that antibodies might protect people who've already had COVID-19 from being reinfected for at least six months.Researchers looked at 12,541 healthcare workers at Oxford University Hospitals in the United Kingdom and were followed for up to 31 weeks.In the study, researchers investigated the incidences of COVID-19 infection by conducting polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on the healthcare workers who had tested positive and negative, including both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.The study results showed that 11,364 did not have antibody levels, and 1,265 had positive results, which also included 88 healthcare workers in whom seroconversion occurred during follow-up. A total of 223 anti-spike–negative health care workers had a positive PCR test (1.09 per 10,000 days at risk), up to 100 during screening were found to be asymptomatic, and 123 were to have symptoms, the study found.Researchers said that individuals who had anti-spike antibodies had no symptomatic infections. 1083

A more than 4,000-year-old private tomb containing "exceptionally well-preserved" drawings has been discovered south of Cairo, according to Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities.Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani said the tomb had been discovered at the Saqqara archaeological site and was from the 5th dynasty of the pharaohs, which ruled roughly 4,400 years ago.The tomb belonged to a royal purification priest known as "Wahtye," al-Anani said in a statement. Inscriptions suggested the priest had served during the reign of King Nefer-Ir-Ka-Re and was the king's supervisor and inspector of the holy boat.Al-Anani said the tomb's walls were decorated with colored scenes depicting Wahtye with his mother, wife and family.The head of the excavation mission, Mostafa Waziri, said other drawings showed wine and pottery making, musical performances, sailing, hunting and the manufacture of funeral furniture.Waziri said his team had reached the tomb in November but that it had taken some time to enter as its doors were sealed.Some 50 niches inside the bomb also contained colored statues carved in rock, including of a person standing or in the scribe position, Waziri said."This statue might belong to the deceased or a member of his family," he said.The general director of the site, Sabry Farag, said the tomb was about 10 meters (33 feet) long and 3 meters (10 feet) wide, with a basement.It also contained five burial shafts, Waziri said, which will be the subject of further excavations.In November, the Antiquities Ministry announced that a mass cat cemetery and a collection of rare mummified scarab beetles were among seven tombs discovered at Saqqara.Saqqara is also home to the famous Step Pyramid. 1715

A New Jersey state trooper admitted to the state's attorney general that he pulled over women while on duty in an attempt to ask women out on a date, WNBC-TV reported. The trooper, 37-year-old Marquice Prather, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of invasion of privacy, tampering with physical evidence and falsifying or tampering with records. He had been suspended without pay since December after accusations mounted against the trooper. WNBC reported that Prather will be banned from public office, and likely will face probation for the charges. Authorities told WNBC that Prather tampered evidence by turning off his microphone, as the trooper claimed the microphone malfunctioned. Prather was accused by authorities of going through personal information and photos on the cellphones of female motorists. Prather was also accused of copying intimate photos and videos of the women, and he would solicit the women to go on a date with him. 1028
