The little girl who went viral for being awestruck with Michelle Obama's portrait dressed as the former first lady this Halloween.Earlier this year, then-2-year-old Parker Curry was photographed staring at Amy Sherald's portrait of Obama at the National Portrait Gallery, completely enthralled with the image towering over her. When Halloween rolled around, Parker, now 3, stepped out for trick-or-treating dressed as Obama, complete with a gown that replicates the Milly dress that the first lady is wearing in her portrait, according to posts on her Twitter and Instagram accounts.Obama responded on Twitter Thursday morning, saying "You nailed the look, Parker! I love it!"It was Parker's idea to be Obama and "her first immediate response" when asked what she wanted to dress as for Halloween, her mother Jessica Curry told CNN."We asked her a few times, 'Are you sure?'" Curry told CNN. "'Yes, I do. I want to be Michelle Obama.'"Parker's dress was a gift from Alisha Welsh, who runs a small, family based company in New York, Magnolia Lake Children's Clothing, according to Curry. Welsh had offered to make Parker her own Obama dress back in March when she was inspired by the photo of Parker. When Parker first saw the dress that arrived on Halloween morning, Curry recalled, "her jaw dropped.""She was just like, 'Wow.' She was really excited. She was giggly," Curry said.Curry told CNN that when she asked Parker if she liked the dress, Parker replied, "'It's perfect.'"When trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, "some people did recognize the dress and were tickled although none of them probably made the connection that (it) was Parker," Curry told CNN. "She got way too much candy."Curry told CNN that Parker asked to wear it again Thursday morning to school. Curry said that she would not be surprised if Parker picked to be Obama again next Halloween.BuzzFeed News was the first to report on Parker's costume choice.Back in March, Curry told CNN that Parker "believes Michelle Obama is a queen, and she wants to be a queen as well.""As a female and as a girl of color, it's really important that I show her people who look like her that are doing amazing things and are making history so that she knows she can do it," she told CNN then. That viral image of Parker entranced by Obama's portrait led to her coming face to face (and having a dance party) with her idol in real life and later an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." 2459
The NFL will consult an advisory committee made up of former coaches, general managers, and players on such issues as postponing, moving, or even canceling games this season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Troy Vincent, the league's football operations chief, said that the advisers, who will report to Commissioner Roger Goodell, will help avoid any "inequities" in those decisions. Vincent did not identify any members of the panel, saying he was awaiting their approval to do so. Vincent also said the league will consider playoff games in a bubble environment, noting that "all options are on the table."Game-day and travel protocols were sent to all 32 teams this week, which included "extensive in-stadium specifics include rules for the field, sidelines, locker rooms, tunnels, entrances, and training rooms," the Associated Press reported. The league said that when traveling, masks must be worn at all times, everyone must stay in separate hotel rooms, buses limited to no more than 50% capacity, and when on an airplane, a seat must be left open between passengers."I am very proud of the innovation and attention to detail that our club medical staffs have shown as they have created these plans, which were reviewed and approved by the league, the NFLPA, and our infectious disease experts,” said NFL Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills.Teams will not be allowed to leave their hotel to eat or use restaurants that are open to the public, the league said.Cheerleaders and mascots cannot be on the field this upcoming season, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported. 1584
The Justice Department is preventing Senate investigators from interviewing two top FBI officials who could provide first-hand testimony over the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, the latest sign that Special Counsel Robert Mueller could be investigating the circumstances around the firing, officials tell CNN.The previously undisclosed turf war comes as the Senate judiciary committee has not yet given assurances to the special counsel's office that it could have unfettered access to the transcript of the interview it conducted last week with the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., saying that the full Senate must first authorize the release of the information to Mueller's team. 709

The IRS clarified on Friday that companies will be obligated not to take Social Security taxes from paychecks starting next week running through the end of the year.Nearly all Americans are taxed 6.2% per check to go toward Social Security. For now, barring any action from Congress, most Americans will see larger paychecks through the end of the year. The guidance is based on an executive order signed earlier this month by President Trump in hopes of stimulating the economy.Related: What a payroll tax deferral may mean for your paycheck and taxesThe Social Security tax deferment is applicable to workers who make up to ,000 on a bi-weekly basis. Those making more than ,000 every two weeks will continue to have their Social Security taxes withheld from checks. The deferment is not an actual tax cut, and because the deferment was done via executive order rather than an act of Congress, the taxes will need paid back by April 30, 2021.The White House has said they would like to see the elimination of the Social Security payroll tax be made permanent in an effort to lower the tax burden. Opponents say that eliminating the tax on Americans would make Social Security insolvent.Stephen Goss, the chief actuary for the Social Security Administration, told the US Senate this week that a hypothetical bill that would make the tax deferment permanent would cause Social Security to no longer be able to make payments to beneficiaries by the middle of 2023.For employees making ,000 a year, the elimination of Social Security taxes would result in an extra per paycheck every two weeks. Assuming the employee has eight paychecks left in 2020, that would result in 2 in taxes deferred in 2020, which would be repaid in 2021. For employees making ,000 per year, those figures would be doubled. 1821
