SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police and Crime Stoppers released photos Wednesday in the search for the burglars responsible for taking half a million dollars’ worth of items during break-in at the Fashion Valley Hermes de Paris store.Up to 10 people got out of three vehicles at the north end of the mall about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 18. Surveillance video shows the group approaching the store and using a pry bar to open the front door.The group stole purses, jewelry and clothing worth 0,000 in just two minutes.RELATED: San Diego mall burglars steal from HermesPolice said the group wore hooded sweatshirts and gloves. The vehicles used for the heist were a white Chevy Suburban and two blue sedans with paper license plates.Investigators conducting follow-ups uncovered new surveillance photos of people they believe to be responsible for the crime.The pictures show three men inside a market. According to police, the crash happened on Reagan Road near Calico Street before 6:30 p.m. Police say the 12-year-old was taken to the hospital with major head injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Ring video captured a man leaping into action, after an incident at a neighbor's Mira Mesa home.Just off Parkdale Avenue, Rod Hutty ran to the front yard in his sandals and saw some frantic neighbors last Wednesday afternoon."I heard a scream and two women came out. One had a stick and shouted, 'Stop,'" said Hutty. Video shows what happened next. Hutty says he spotted a man in his early 20s, who started running."My adrenaline kicked in. I knew something was wrong. I shouted at him," said Hutty.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHutty gave chase. He saw another man running in a different direction, causing Hutty to go after him. What isn't seen on camera is Hutty catching up to him."I went like this and he went like this, and grabbed him and almost took him to the ground. Then he got away," said Hutty.Hutty chased them for a bit, before heading back to get his bike. He never saw them again. Witnesses spotted a blue minivan picking up the two men. Hutty later got a visit from the Eggum family, receiving a big "thank you." Hutty's cousin placed the video on the Neighbors by Ring app."Did the best he could ... appreciate neighbors helping out," said Gordon Eggum.Eggum says his wife saw the two men lurking in the backyard after hopping the fence. Faulconer and SDPD police chief David Nisleit said they are looking to build on recent police policies on officer use of force.Faulconer, Nisleit, and other public officials made a formal announcement Wednesday afternoon."We hear what the community's concerns are,” San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit said. “The preservation of human life is our number one priority.”Nisleit said that de-escalation is a number one priority for the department.“De-escalation steps include things like creating a buffer zone between an officer and a subject to reduce tensions, or calling on specialized resources such as psychiatric emergency response team,” Mayor Kevin Faulconer said.“These policies are meant to protect the officer as much as the subject and prevent escalation as much as possible before force is used,” he added.“The officer must intervene,” Nisleit said when talking about officers stepping in when officers see excessive use of force.The announcement comes weeks since Nisleit said his department would stop the use of a hotly criticized carotid restraint procedure.SDPD, along with numerous other local agencies, stopped this technique in response to protests across the county after video surfaced showing a Minneapolis officer kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly 10 minutes. According to the site, San Diego is the 15th best place in the nation for veterans to live in 2019. Out of 100 other U.S. cities, San Diego ranks 47th for employment, 2nd for quality of life and 35th for health.
