Starbucks bathrooms will be open to anyone who wants to use them, whether they're a paying customer or not, Chairman Howard Schultz said Thursday.Schultz made the announcement following the uproar over the way two black men were treated at a Starbucks in Philadelphia last month. The men asked to use the bathroom, but an employee told them it was only for paying customers. When they then sat in the store without ordering anything, the manager called police, and the men were arrested for trespassing. No charges were filed.Starbucks has since apologized to the men and announced plans for extra racial bias training for its employees."We don't want to become a public bathroom, but we're going to make the right decision 100% of the time and give people the key, because we don't want anyone at Starbucks to feel as if we are not giving access to you to the bathroom because you are less than. We want you to be more than," Schultz said during a talk at the Atlantic Council in Washington.Schultz said the company currently has a "loose" policy of only allowing paying customers to use the bathroom, with the decision ultimately left to the store manager. But he said the policy and the decision by the Philadelphia store manager last month were "absolutely wrong in every way.""It's the company that's responsible," he added.Starbucks didn't immediately respond to a request for further details about the change announced by Schultz.Starbucks has said it will close its 8,000 company-owned stores in the United States on the afternoon of May 29 to educate employees about racial bias. The training for about 175,000 workers "will be the largest kind of training of its kind on perhaps one of the most systemic subjects and issues facing our country," Schultz said.  1779

Something you can't see with the naked eye could be the keeping an eye on you in your most private moments.Illegally hidden cameras are getting harder to detect each day.At her request, we have concealed the identity of a Central Florida woman who found a hidden camera installed in a fan sitting on a table in her home."Well right now it's making me very paranoid because I feel like there could be more devices," said the woman.  She is sharing her story to warn others. There are already plenty of other warnings out there in our state as well.In October 2017, a couple found a hidden camera in a smoke detector in their Airbnb room in Longboat Key.In March 2016, a mother said she found a hidden camera in a West Kendall restaurant bathroom. The demand for hidden cameras, and help finding them, keep private investigator Jody Stacy busy at his Delray Beach store."You got to think if they're finding one device, how many did they miss? Again, it's getting cheaper, smaller and more effective," said Stacy.Stacy went on to say, "Pretty much anything can hold a hidden camera. A stuffed animal, a clock, something as small as a phone charger. Finding the camera can be a challenge."The woman in Central Florida felt like someone she knew, knew too much about her private life."I feel like he can hear everything I'm talking about and everything I say," said the woman. She hired a private investigator, who found the camera in a fan.For about one hundred bucks, you can use a handheld device to spot hidden camera lenses and radio frequencies.  Stacy said, "Everything has to have a crystal or a lens in it like the smoke detectors or stuff like that so if you went through it... it would reflect and you'd see like a little red light and it would tell you there's a camera in it." 1814

Special counsel Robert Mueller is set to reveal the extent of Michael Flynn's cooperation and insights into the dealings of Russians with the Trump campaign and administration a year after the guilty plea from President Donald Trump's former national security adviser. In the court filing due by midnight Tuesday, Mueller's team could also nod toward the next criminal indictments in its sights. The special counsel's office is expected to describe the crimes Flynn committed that led to his plea and how he has helped the Russia probe this year. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators on December 1, 2017. The coming filing is meant to brief a federal judge before Flynn's sentencing.Similar filings before other Mueller defendants' sentencings -- former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, Dutch lawyer Alex Van der Zwaan and Internet salesman Richard Pinedo -- contained revelations about what each person did and knew connected to the Russians and members of the campaign. But none of those defendants cut a deal to cooperate with Mueller like Flynn did. Each earned prison time that ranged from 14 days to six months. Some of the details in Tuesday's filing could be described under seal, especially if parts of the investigation that Flynn contributed to are not yet public.Last December, Flynn became the first high-ranking Trump adviser to agree to formally cooperate with the special counsel's probe.Soon after his plea, attention turned to other Trump confidants and campaign and administration officials, including the President's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The details revealed at his plea hearing raised the question of what Trump had known about Flynn's discussions with the Russian government. The fruits of what Flynn shared with investigators are not yet known. But he likely gave Mueller a window into not just the 2016 presidential campaign but also the new administration's dealings with Russians and reactions to the early days of the Russia investigation.Kushner has not been charged with a crime, nor have any others whom Flynn was outlined to have lied about. But inklings of what prosecutors learned from Flynn and who else on the campaign and transition may still have legal risks could come out in the filing Tuesday. 2272

Senator Mitt Romney released a statement Tuesday pleading with the country to “lower the heat” of divisive political rhetoric, just weeks before Election Day.“The president calls the Democratic vice presidential candidate ‘a monster.’ He calls for the justice department to put the prior president in jail; he attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a plot is discovered to kidnap her. Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own—though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others,” his statement posted on Twitter reads.Romney is currently a senator representing Utah. He is a former governor of Massachusetts, and was the Republican nominee for president in 2012.He has been a member of the Republican party his entire time in politics. As a senator, he has seemed willing to stand in opposition to President Donald Trump. In February, Romney was the sole Republican senator to vote to convict President Trump during his impeachment trial.Romney also took some time before saying he would vote for President Trump’s latest nominee to the Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett, leading some to think he may not. In the end, he said he would follow the constitution and vote if a vote is held. His statement Tuesday morning urges leaders on both sides to “tone it down.” He calls out actions on both sides, and says the world and American families are watching.“The world is watching America with abject horror; more consequentially, our children are watching. Many Americans are frightened for our country—so divided, so angry, so mean, so violent,” the statement reads. The statement makes no reference by name to either President Trump or Demoncratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. It also does not say anything about endorsing a candidate or the upcoming election.Senator Romney’s full statement is below.I have stayed quiet with the approach of the election. But I’m troubled by our politics, as it has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass that is unbecoming of any free nation – let alone the birthplace of modern democracy. The president calls the Democratic vice presidential candidate “a monster.” He calls for the justice department to put the prior president in jail; he attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a plot is discovered to kidnap her. Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own—though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others. Pelosi tears up the president’s states of the union speech on national television. Keith Olbermann calls the president a “terrorist.” Media on the left and the right amplify all of it.The rabid attacks kindle the conspiracy mongers and the haters who take the small and predictable step from intemperate word to dangerous action. The world is watching America with abject horror; more consequentially, our children are watching. Many Americans are frightened for our country—so divided, so angry, so mean, so violent. It is time to lower the heat. Leaders must tone it down. Leaders from the top and leaders from all stripes: parents, bosses, reporters, columnists, professors, union chiefs, everyone. The consequences of the crescendo of anger leads to a very bad place. No sane person can want that. 3258

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republicans say Roy Moore, the Republican nominee in Alabama for a Senate seat, should step aside if an explosive Washington Post report that accuses him of engaging in sexual conduct with underage women is true."If these allegations are true, he must step aside," McConnell said in a statement.GOP Sen. Susan Collins tweeted, "If there is any truth at all to these horrific allegations, Roy Moore should immediately step aside as a Senate candidate."  514
