A Michigan man is disgusted after an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight involving a service dog and the mess it left behind.The Bay City, Mich. man had just boarded the plane to Miami when he noticed feces all over the floor and his seat. When he alerted the crew, he said they did little to nothing to help.“Actual feces and it was all over me. I sat in it and it was on the seat, on the floor, the seat in front. And I was literally in it,” said Matthew Meehan, Delta customer.The Bay City resident said via FaceTime about the very smelly, disgusting encounter he had on a recent Delta flight from Atlanta to Miami.He said upon sitting in his seat, he and the passenger next to him quickly discovered they had sat in feces. They both ran to the front of the plane to clean off and were shocked by what the flight attendant handed them.“I have no idea why I wasn’t offered something from the biohazard kit to clean myself up with. Instead, I was handed two paper towels and one of those miniature bottles of Bombay Sapphire, a bottle of gin to clean myself with,” Meehan said.Meehan said that was just the beginning. After cleaning what he could of the feces from his hands and clothing, he said flight attendants continued to board the plane and told him there was nothing more they could do. He exited the plane to speak with a manager and said this was her response:“At the very beginning, she sighed, ‘what’s your problem?’ And it was just you know, I had to step back for a moment and say, alright, keep your composer. You do not want to be one of these people you see on the news getting kicked off a plane. Meanwhile, I’m covered in feces,” Meehan said.Meehan said he and fellow passengers were forced to lay a blanket over the mess and endure the smell for the entire two-hour flight.Delta Air Lines released the following statement:“On Nov. 1, an aircraft operating flight 1949 from Atlanta to Miami was boarded before cleaning was completed following an incident from a previous flight with an ill service animal. Delta apologizes to customers impacted by the incident and has reached out to make it right, offering a refund and additional compensation. The safety and health of our customers and employees is our top priority, and we are conducting a full investigation while following up with the right teams to prevent this from happening again. Upon landing in Miami, the aircraft was taken out of service to be deep cleaned and disinfected.”Meehan acknowledged he was offered a refund, but more importantly he hopes this incident forces Delta to look at its current policies.Meehan also said he has been contacted by dozens of lawyers since the incident, wanting to take on the case. 2709

A North Carolina pastor who led a march to the polls over the weekend that ended with police pepper-spraying participants says he will lead another march on Election Day.On Saturday, Rev. Greg Drumwright led the "I Am Change" march in Graham, North Carolina, from a local AME Church to the Alamance County Courthouse.According to the Raleigh News & Observer, the march included a moment of silence for George Floyd, who was killed during an arrest in Minnesota this summer and whose death sparked a nationwide protest movement against police brutality.Following that moment of silence, the News & Observer reports that deputies and police officers used pepper spray on the crowd and began arresting participants. At least one journalist covering the event was arrested.Some participants told the News & Observer that they were given little warning as to the officer's decision to shut down the event. The Associated Press reports that Graham Police say they issued several warnings to the crowd to move from the roadway before releasing pepper spraying and later arresting eight people.On Sunday, Drumwright confirmed in a TV interview that he intends to finish the march on Election Day. A teen missing for more than a year after witnessing a murder has been found alive in an Ohio basement, ABC Dayton affiliate WKEF reports.Police believe Jacob Caldwell, 15, ran away from his grandparents, who were granted temporary custody of him and his brothers, after Jacob witnessed his father being shot and killed. Jacob's mother and her boyfriend are among those who have been charged with murder in connection with the slaying. Jacob was last seen on Aug. 21 2017, in front of a Walmart in Sugar Creek Township, located in Green County, near Dayton. 585

A task that once took days has been reduced to hours, thanks to the use of drones and laser technology.The Scripps Institution of Oceanography is mapping the shoreline of San Diego's coast  to study beach and cliff erosion. The new technology, paid for by the California State Parks and the Army Corps of Enginners, has made that task much easier."This is allowing us to get a more comprehensive view of the beach and the cliffs," says lead researcher Adam Young.Young and his team will drive the entire coast from La Jolla to Oceanside twice a year. They're using a laser enhanced camera and a drone to create a 3D map of the coast. Over time, they'll be able to compare the maps and see where and how the beach is eroding."We're going to have to start looking to the future," Young says. "And we're not going to be able to prepare properly unless we collect data and understand what's happening now."In addition to the twice yearly studies, Young says they'll look at sand levels after storms and at how sand moves throughout the year.Young says it can help predict what areas of the cliffs are susceptible to collapse. 1139

A teacher in Kansas who just wanted to keep track of schools closing this fall because of COVID-19 cases, has created a nationwide database to help parents and educators.Alisha Morris teaches in Kansas’ Olathe School District and as she prepared for this fall, began looking into how other districts and schools were handling the first few weeks of class.“I was seeing a lot of articles about schools that were opening up and issues already happening on Day 1,” Morris, 29, said. “I thought, 'Wow!' Maybe these are a lot of repeat articles, and I’m just seeing the same thing over and over. Surely, there can’t be that many already,’” Morris told MyCentralJersey.com.She started keeping track of articles and COVID-19 cases and closures at schools in a Google spreadsheet. She shared it with colleagues and friends, then with her school district’s board of education.“The response I received was astronomical,” Morris said.As word spread about the database, more submissions came in. There are more than 700 entries for more than 40 states. Morris has set up a way for people to submit cases and school closures through her spreadsheet.Morris hopes to transition to a new system soon, with help from volunteers.“When I first created this spreadsheet, I had no idea that it was going to become such a big thing.
