The victim was walking southbound in an alley between 10th and 11th Streets at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 9, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. DETROIT (AP) — The United Auto Workers union announced that its roughly 49,000 members at General Motors plants in the U.S. will go on strike Sunday night because contract negotiations with the automaker had broken down.The decision came after about 200 plant-level union leaders voted unanimously in favor of a walkout during a meeting Sunday morning in Detroit."We stood up for General Motors when they needed us most. After countless collapses in the past, beachgoers like Chris Smith, are often worried.Smith told ABC 10News, "I feel comfortable but in the back of my mind you know something could always happen." He also said awareness by leaders is a plus but the tracks should be moved entirely. "With the impact to what the train is providing to the cliff, at some point there's gonna be a negative impact to it," Smith added.Leaders said the new additions will buy them about 30 years, to plan a more permanent solution which could involve moving tracks into a tunnel system.Phase 5 of the project is slated to begin next summer, while plans for phase 6, the final phase, is still in the works. 1419

Despite devastating wildfires that ravaged the California's Wine Country, a leading advocacy group for California's wine producers said on Wednesday that wine production was not significantly impacted by the wildfires. The Wine Institute said that close to 90 percent of winegrapes had already been picked and produced from California's top three wine producing counties before the wildfires struck. "The vast majority of California's 2017 winegrape harvest was unaffected by the wildfires and the vintage promises to be of excellent quality," said Robert P. "The outpouring of support locally and from around the world for people in the impacted communities has been phenomenal."Wine production in 2017 was boosted by an end to California's five-year drought. Rain, plus a mid-summer heat wave, made for good conditions to help produce winegrapes.
