SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University reported at least 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The total of positive cases among students since the first day of school is now up to 20. The university says the most of the students that tested positive live off campus. Only three of the students were living on campus. Two of the students are in isolation on campus. The third student is isolating somewhere else. In a letter sent out to staff and students, school officials say the majority of the students didn't interact with any SDSU employees or go to any of the shared campus spaces. One student did briefly visit the school bookstore. San Diego State started the school year on Aug. 24, mostly with online classes. There are 2,600 students living on campus. County officials confirm they have started outbreak investigations and are working closely with the school. Over the weekend, SDSU announced they had hired security to patrol the campus from Thursday to Sunday, after hours, to monitor for any COVID-19 violations on campus. Students told ABC 10News they think the school is doing the best they can in response to COVID-19. They say they are more concerned about things in housing off campus. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Starting Wednesday, cruise ships will return to the San Diego Embarcadero — but they will not be picking up any customers for months to come. Experts say the longer the vessels stay, the harder it is for the cruise industry to bounce back.The Holland America Koningsdam returned to the Port of San Diego Wednesday morning. It is one of five cruise ships scheduled to dock at the Embarcadero for fuel and supplies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - South Bay Pentecostal Church has been involved in a legal battle since May regarding worshiping indoors, and officials think Friday could be the light at the end of the tunnel.Senior Pastor Arthur Hodges believes during a motions hearing Friday morning the church will be granted permission to reopen indoors.His hope comes from the latest rulings by several judges.On Dec. 3, the Supreme Court ruled places of worship in New York could reopen, saying restrictions meant to curb the pandemic violated the First Amendment of the Constitution.After that ruling, the high court issued an unsigned order to California judges to reconsider Gov. Gavin Newsom's restrictions.On Wednesday, a judge ruled restaurants could reopen indoors in San Diego."That absolutely makes us hopeful, and I've told restaurateurs, business owners, whatever, we're fighting for you, too. Now we have a bigger gun than they do. We've got the Constitution, OK; they don't have that. but they're finding ways to get around it with the right to assemble," Hodges said.Hodges said back in May their initial lawsuit was voted down 5-4 by the Supreme Court.Hodges believes under a high court that shifted majority when Judge Amy Coney Barrett replaced the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, they will prevail."If religious liberties are lost, you can mark it down your personal liberties are going to be lost," Hodges said, arguing this lawsuit is to protect more than places of worship.Hodges said if they win this legal battle it will pave the way for the rest of the country. 1563

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Sharp Healthcare Tuesday announced the temporary closure of multiple locations amid the coronavirus pandemic. Sharp said Tuesday that it was temporarily closing its La Mesa West and Point Loma locations beginning Thursday, March 26.
