SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a reported bank robbery suspect in the Mission Valley area late Friday.A bank robbery was reported at the US Bank location at Frazee Road just before 5 p.m., according to San Diego Police. At one point, SWAT officers were called in to assist.SDPD initially reported that shots were fired inside the bank based on accounts from "scared employees" but later confirmed no shots had been fired. Police are currently searching for a suspect. No injuries have been immediately reported. The building was reportedly locked down as police searched.The suspected was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing a black mask or bandana, black hooded shirt, black pants, tan backpack armed with a handgun. 751
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for the driver who struck a pedestrian with his vehicle before driving away in Hillcrest early Sunday morning. According to police, a 30-year-old man was crossing the street on the 1300 block of University when he was hit. Following the crash, the sedan fled the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a 19-year-old man was found dead inside a Logan Heights home late Saturday night. Police were called to the home on the 2800 block of Clay Avenue around 10:35 p.m.According to police, a resident came home and discovered the man, later identified as 19-year-old Joshua Noe Martinez, suffering trauma to his upper body. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Monday night's Demi Lovato concert gave San Diego — and Parkland, Fla. — fans a night to remember.Kicking off her "Tell Me You Love Me" world tour, Lovato brought six Parkland shooting survivors on stage before a packed Viejas Arena."Tonight I brought along some people who are incredibly courageous and inspiring and brave. On February 14, one of the worst mass shootings in American history took place," Lovato said?on stage. "These students were in the school that day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Overall crime rates in San Diego are at historically low levels. But it's a mixed bag when you break down new statistics today from SANDAG.The good news is that property crime is down so far in 2017.Car thefts are down by 13-percent while burglary and larceny are each down by 9-percents for violent crime, it really depends on where you live.SANDAG breaks down the numbers into 17 jurisdictions. Violent crime is up this year in 12 of them.Those communities with a rise in crime were Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Encinitas, Lemon Grove, San Marcos, Santee, Vista, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Spring Valley, and Valley Center.Homicides are down 14-percent and rape is down by three.
