IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating after a body was found along Imperial Beach Sunday morning. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, joggers told authorities they found a man in his 20s unresponsive in the water on the 700 block of Seacoast Drive. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead. The department says they suspect drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the death. The identity of the man hasn't been released at this time. 499

(CNN) -- A high school principal has died after going to the hospital to donate bone marrow to try to save the life of a 14-year-old in France.Derrick Nelson, principal of Westfield High School in New Jersey, died unexpectedly Sunday night, according to school officials. His fiancée, Sheronda Braker, said that Nelson suffered complications after his bone marrow donation.The school's newspaper reported in February that Nelson decided to donate his bone marrow to a boy in France after being contacted by Be the Match. The national bone marrow donor program told him that his blood might be a match."If it's just a little bit of pain for a little bit of time that can give someone years of joy, it's all worth it," Nelson told the paper then.In a statement to CNN, Braker said Nelson "was a tremendous father to our beloved daughter Morgan and the best companion and life partner I could have ever asked for.""He loved his family almost beyond belief. He was a man who carried himself with dignity, courage and compassion," she continued. "His last kind and generous act on this earth in giving so someone else might live is a true testament to who he was and how he should always be remembered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Planning commission Thursday voted to recommend a zoning change for a massive office complex along State route 56 in Torrey Highlands.The site in question is an 11-acre site just south of SR-56 near Camino Del Sur, surrounded on three sides by the Del Mar Mesa Preserve. Cisterra Development plans to build a 450,000-square-foot office complex, including a 7-story parking structure."Right now, San Diego is on the verge of a shortage of employment-suitable land for the kinds of innovation economy jobs that ... are coming to San Diego now. We need large lots of space for companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft ... We try to bring homes near jobs, but we also need to bring jobs near homes. There are thousands of homes in the area," said David Dick of Cisterra Development.According to Cisterra, the project will lead to more than 1,900 jobs, described as "permanent and high-wage."Darshana Patel, a member of the Rancho Penasquitos Planning Board, is skeptical. She points to a nearby, even-larger office complex approved in 2013."It's approved, graded, and no one's interested. Also, these jobs are highly specialized. It's no given that our neighbors will fill these positions," said Patel.What Patel is sure of are the other impacts of the project, from more traffic in a highly congested area, to environmental impacts. According to San Diego Police, the stabbing happened on the 1500 block of Commercial just after 5 p.m. Police say a 26-year-old man was involved in a fist fight with the suspect when, during the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim in the ribs. The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and hasn’t been located, police say. He is described as a 35-year-old black man approximately five feet, seven inches tall and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a light-colored, short-sleeved shirt and had a scar down his abdomen. 698
