BAYTOWN, Texas — Texas State Rep. Briscoe Cain went to Facebook after seeing a homework assignment regarding U.S. President Donald Trump.The lesson was teaching 7th-grade students how to inference using 10 student-written essays at Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. The assignment required students to read an excerpt from "Trump Against American Values" by Parker, and then answer the questions that followed. The first question asked, "Which of the following conclusions would the author most likely agree with?" The answer to the questions was, "Donald Trump should not be president."The second question asked what the reader would infer from reading the passage. The answer being, "Mexican Americans are the major group upset with President Trump."Cain said in his Facebook post that the superintendent of the district, Randal O'Brien, is aware of the issue and has taken corrective action. "It is our understanding the [sic] he and his administration have done all that state law allows them to do at this time," Cain said. "Superintendent O’Brien is and remains the right man for the job."Cain was made aware of the post by Chris Felder, a concerned parent at the school. “This was an assignment my 7th grade daughter received that I found to be very out of place to say the least," Felder commented, according to Cain's post. "This type of non-factual rhetoric has no place in our schools regardless of who the president is. My children have experienced great teachers in the classroom, but have also had to put up with those who see their role as indoctrinators, not educators. Bakersfield City Council heard from Pastor Angelo Frazier and several others on a proposal to add the nation's motto "In God We Trust" on Bakersfield Police cars. Some residents consider the proposal an infringement on the first amendment of separation between church and state. City Councelmember Jacquie Sullivan says the proposal will be in the June agenda. Bakersfield Police patrol vehicles may soon have new decals if a proposal by a local pastor moves forward. Pastor Angelo Frazier of the Riverlakes Community Church, says he will be giving a presentation at Wednesday's City Council meeting proposing that Bakersfield add the nation's motto "In God We Trust" on their patrol cars. He says the proposal is not currently on the agenda, but hopes the council will pick up the plan and approve it. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A 21-year-old Marine was killed in a tactical vehicle accident at a California training center Sunday morning. The United States Marine Corps announced Monday that Pfc. Christian Bautista of Cook County, Illinois died after the M-1151 Enhanced Armament Carrier he was in crashed around 7:15 a.m.Despite live-saving efforts from two other Marines and paramedics, the Marine Corps says Bautista was pronounced dead at the scene at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC) in Bridgeport.Bautista was a motor vehicle operator serving as a vehicle turret gunner assigned to 1st Transportation Support Battalion (TSB), Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group. 1st TSB is aboard MWTC conducting tactical logistics support training in a mountainous environment.Bautista enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2018. He graduated from Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was assigned to 1st TSB at Camp Pendleton, California, in May 2019. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Service Medal. "Our primary concern is for the Marine we've lost, his family, friends, and fellow Marines and sailors," said Brig. Gen. Roberta L.
