SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The vaccination of a lifetime is just days away for San Diego hospitals. Sharp healthcare administrators are getting ready to distribute thousands of Pfizer vaccines to their front line employees.“They will sign up and be scheduled,” said VP of Sharp Pharmacy Services, Suzanne Shea. “We don’t want people lining up at the door. We want to make sure we’re maintaining social distancing.”Shea says their freezers will store the doses at the necessary -80 degrees Celsius. He’s a physical therapist who works with coronavirus patients who have been hospitalized.“We're right in front of them,” said Montemayor. “Standing them up, face-to-face. The first inclination is to want them to wear a mask so they're not coughing onto you. But, their oxygen saturations are so low that you almost just feel bad for asking them to do so.”He sees the long-term effects of the virus can have on the body. He says some people can’t even get out of bed. Others have lasting symptoms resembling a recent stroke.“I've seen a lot of people that won’t return to normal life,” said Montemayor. “It takes a village to see these folks and the nurses are overwhelmed. It's all hands on deck.”Montemayor says the long-term effects of coronavirus outweigh any potential side effects from getting a vaccine.Sharp Healthcare says even people who have already had COVID-19 should be vaccinated. 1812

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park is facing a setback after thieves broke into the theater.According to San Diego Police, an unknown suspect or suspects forced their way into the building between Oct. 17 and 19. The thieves ransacked two separate, secured structures on the property.A number of high-end television production systems, autographed guitars, studio cameras, and other items were stolen. “The doors were physically broken down,” said Steve Stopper, founder of Save Starlight. “There’s been a lot of vandalism and theft and they had to have been here a long, long time.”Stopper said his foundation has been working for five years to bring life back to the theater that closed down in 2012. The City of San Diego has offered support to his organization.Repairs were being completed after a tree came crashing down on the Starlight Bowl months ago, lifting asphalt in the parking lot and crushing part of the building.“This is definitely kicking us back to almost a starting point again,” said Stopper.Security cameras and alarms were turned off as repairs to the building were underway.Stopper said the items stolen were worth well over ,000. Many, including the autographed guitars, were set to be auctioned off at a gala next year in an effort to raise money for the revitalization project.“We need someone to step up and help us,” said Stopper. “We need new options for the future. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers tested positive for coronavirus, the department announced Wednesday.After learning of the positive results, the Port of San Diego says it notified the department and port staff.The officers are isolated and undergoing treatment at their homes and will seek further care should it be necessary. Their condition is unclear at this time.The department also said it’s working with San Diego County health officials to conduct contract tracing and notify people who had close contact with the officers.“Prioritizing the health and well-being of the public, our partners, and Port employees and their families, the Port encourages and reminds the public, for their health as well as that of first responders, to wear face coverings, practice and maintain social distancing, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowded spaces and gatherings,” the Port of San Diego said in a news release. 953

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three cars were damaged during a pursuit through Cortez Hill Monday afternoon. According to police, the chase began around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Beech Street. The reason for the chase was unclear. The chase ended a short distance away on the 1300 block of Park Boulevard. During the chase, the suspect struck three other vehicles, two of which were parked. Two suspects were arrested and police say no serious injuries were reported following the crash. 510
