The first three nomination races have not gone well for former Vice President Joe Biden. The once frontrunner for the Democratic nomination has struggled to attract voters to the polls thus far. Monmouth University released a South Carolina primary poll on Thursday indicating Biden was leading the pack with 36%. The poll showed that Sanders and Tom Steyer were jockeying for second with 16% and 15% respectively. 15% is a key figure for the race as it is the threshold to receive delegates – anything less results in a goose egg. Helping Biden’s standing with the black vote was this week’s endorsement from Rep. Jim Clyburn. Clyburn, the third-most powerful Democrat in the House, has been one of South Carolina’s most recognizable Democrats for decades. “I know Joe Biden. I know his character, his heart, and his record. Joe Biden has stood for the hard-working people of South Carolina. We know Joe. But more importantly, he knows us,” Clyburn told voters this week. Following Saturday’s race is Super Tuesday when one-third of all delegates are up for grabs. The night could be intriguing for several reasons. One is the foray of Mike Bloomberg into the race. He sat out the first four nominating contests, and has spent a fortune of his own money to advertise in delegate-rich states such as Texas and California. Super Tuesday also could provide clarity on which candidate or candidates will take on Sanders deep into the nominating race. Finally, it could give an indication on whether Democrats need to prepare for a brokered convention. Now Ford, maker of America's most popular pickup truck, is already pushing back with a demonstration of what its planned electric F-150 could be capable of doing.Ford released video of a prototype electric F-150 towing a line of freight train cars weighing, according to Ford, over 1 million pounds. The truck, driven by F-150 chief engineer Linda Zhang, pulled the train for 1,000 feet.After that was done, Ford added train cars carrying 42 F-150 pickups -- one for every year that the Ford F-series has been the bestselling truck in America -- and Zhang pulled the train again. With the trucks, the train weight rose to 1.25 million pounds, according to Ford.Ford pointed out that this was a "one-time short event demonstration," in which the prototype was "towing far beyond any production truck's published capacity." The NFL announced on Tuesday that the number of teams that will qualify for the playoffs will expand from 12 to 14, which will also increase the number of Wild Card Round games from four to six. NFL owners and the Players Association came to the agreement on Tuesday, which will go into effect this season. The format will mean that only the top team in each conference will earn a bye into the Divisional Round. The six division winners will then play the six wild card teams. The new format marks the first time the NFL has expanded the playoffs since 1990, when the league increased the number of teams that qualified from 10 to 12. Per the new format, three playoff games will be played on Saturday, Jan. 9, and another three games will be played on Sunday, Jan. 10. NBC and CBS have been the selected networks to air the added two showdowns.
