SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Temperatures will be cooling down through Wednesday but a shift in the wind direction will bring fire danger for the end of the week.A Fire Weather Watch will go into effect Thursday at 3 a.m. until Friday at 8 p.m. Winds out of the E to NE will average from 35 to 50 miles per hour. The Santa Ana winds will dry out the atmosphere with Relative Humidity averaging 5 to 10 percent during the day. The combination of dry conditions and gusty winds will keep the fire danger high on Thursday and Friday.Check 10News Pinpoint Weather conditionsInland communities, foothills, and mountains will be in the threat zone. We recommend extreme caution: avoid anything that could potentially spark flames or ignite a fire.Santa Ana winds are offshore winds. As the winds travel down the mountains, the air dries and heats up. Santa Ana season can range from October through April. Typically, the winds can be stronger in December and January, so this week will be one of many more episodes. We hope you are safe and ready for Santa Ana winds and Santa Ana season. 1078

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a man killed in 2013 is pleading with the community for new leads as the case has now been left unsolved for more than half a decade.Ralph Green was killed on October 20, 2013.  He was murdered on Jewell Street in the Mountain View neighborhood, on the porch of his daughter’s home while at her 32nd birthday party. His daughter, Chanel Green, says the shooting happened suddenly, catching everyone by surprise.“My mother was on her way outside, so it was a blessing I didn't lose both my parents that day,” Chanel said. “I remember (my mother) shrieking, ‘oh my god, Ralph’s been shot.’ And I ran to the door to see my dad walk holding his neck.”Green says he was shot three times, once through this throat.“My brother catches him, and I moved my brother out of the way, and I laid (my father) down on the ground, and I start screaming, “oh my god, my dad’s been shot, call the police,’” she said. “My dad bled out on the floor, and all I could hope was that he heard me when I told him I loved him.” Channel’s aunt, Jennetta Pierce, was also shot.  Pierce is Ralph’s cousin-in-law.Pierce says she was inside the house, by the window, when the bullets started flying. One of them hit her on the lower back.“I got hit, but I didn’t let anyone know I got hit because my kids were there, and I just told them to get up under the table,” Pierce recalled.  After that, emergency crews came inside the house and took her to the hospital, where she spent two weeks.  She says she spent the next five years focused on moving forward.Police have said the shooting was random.  Chanel says there have been tips, and potentially leads given to the police but none have panned out.  But she’s convinced that there are people out there that know something, that can give her and her family the closure they need.“For anybody who knows somebody that knows something to come forward, now is the time, to tell the truth,” Chanel said. Anyone with information can contact San Diego Police or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 2087

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The National Weather Service warned of minor coastal flooding ahead of a King Tide set to hit the San Diego County coastline Monday and Tuesday. The event forced the agency to issue a beach hazards statement from Sunday night through Tuesday evening.Surf will begin to build late Sunday, peaking Monday and Tuesday. By Tuesday night, the surf is expected to diminish, the agency said.High tides Monday will be 6.9 feet at 8 a.m. High tide on Tuesday will be 6.8 feet at 8:40 a.m.The agency warned that the King Tides will create water run-up into some beach parking lots and other low-lying areas.Beaches most prone to flooding include Sunset, Seal, Newport, Oceanside, Cardiff, La Jolla Shores and Imperial Beach.Elevated surf will also create strong rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions, the National Weather Service says. 861

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The floral tributes shut down by the pandemic, blossomed into reality Memorial Day at several national cemeteries.Susan Williams first met Gregory Torres in 1973 while he was in the Air Force navigator training program. While the relationship didn't last, she never forgot him."Funny, smart and dedicated. One of the best people I've ever known," said Williams, 71.In 1978, while stationed in Germany, Captain Torres died when his plane crashed during a training flight. He was buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.Williams, who lives in South Carolina, had plans to visit his grave this Memorial Day before the pandemic hit.Covid-19 also turned the usual local services virtual. The flags laid out by the cemetery and flowers put out by a national nonprofit wouldn't happen this year."It made me feel crummy. He should be remembered in some way," said Williams.Enter Jenelle Brinneman, a Valley Center florist who started a Gofundme campaign. After a 10news story, the campaign took off. Some ,000 and countless roses, Brinneman and a small group of volunteers spent the morning of Memorial Day laying a single rose at some 4000 grave markers between Fort Rosecrans and Miramar cemeteries."We're laying down these roses and people are crying, thanking us. Just so cool to be part of this. The feeling is just overwhelming," said Brinneman.Brinneman's group also set down 200 bouquets at gravestones, special requests submitted for Memorial Day. One of those requests came from Williams. "I'm just thrilled these people are doing this and he was honored," said Williams.Brinneman says the response was so incredible, she's hoping to make this an annual tradition. 1698
