SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One person was killed in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 805 in the South Bay that forced lane closures and led to a heavy traffic backup during the Wednesday morning commute.Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported a crash involving a Nissan pickup truck colliding with a Caltrans truck that was working along the side of northbound I-805 near Bonita Road.CHP officials determined that a Toyota Yaris struck the pickup, causing it to slam into the back of the Caltrans truck, which was hauling asphalt.CHECK TRAFFIC CONDITIONS10News learned the Nissan's driver died at the hospital after sustaining injuries from the wreck.Yaris' driver, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.No other injuries were reported, and CHP officials said the crash is under investigation.The crash and clean-up led to the closure of at least two lanes on northbound I-805 at Bonita Road. The onramp from Bonita Road to northbound I-805 was also shut down.The closures caused a traffic jam that extended south past Palomar Street in Chula Vista.To alleviate some of the gridlock, the CHP opened the HOV lanes to all vehicles. 1207

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have released pictures of a man accused of shooting and killing a 27-year-old man in the Midway District in late February.Police say Ernesto Castallenos Martinez, 41, shot and killed Alexander Mazin in a parking lot behind the 24 Hour Fitness on the 3600 block of Midway Drive.Following the shooting, police were led to the intersection of 30th Street and Upas Street where an hours-long standoff took place.RELATED: Police identify Midway District shooting victim, suspect of North Park standoff?After SWAT teams entered an apartment in the area, they didn’t find Martinez. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Neighbors woke up to find disturbing graffiti in their Hillcrest neighborhood.For Lauren Matley, it was hard to hold back tears, as she scraped away the red paint on her car window. This was just one of many vehicles that were painted on along 6th Avenue in Hillcrest. Someone also painted on the side of houses and on a garage.Doctor Barry Kaplan was walking his dog when he noticed the graffiti and he called police. "Several of my grandparents died in the Holocaust. So, for me to see this, this reminds me of Nazi Germany. It’s very offensive," Kaplan said.Though Matley doesn’t know if this was a random act or meant to be antisemitic, she says it hits too close to home being a member of the Jewish community."You wake up and this is what you look forward to? The black community would look forward to? The Jewish community would look forward to? The Muslim community looks forward to?" Matley said.Police say after the reports are written this case will be handed to an investigator. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person is dead after being hit and killed by an unknown vehicle in Clairemont on Sunday night.San Diego Police say the pedestrian was in the 4100 block of Ashford St. near Marlesta Dr. when they were hit by a vehicle just after 8 p.m.The vehicle fled the scene. Police are looking for a dark gray or black Dodge pick-up truck.
