INDIANAPOLIS -- Firefighters at an Indianapolis fire station opened the door early Friday morning to a one-of-a-kind request for help: A frantic woman, distressed because her pet raccoon was stoned off of too much weed.The raccoon, according to Wayne Township Fire Dept. PIO Capt. Michael Pruitt, had been exposed to "too much" of someone else’s marijuana, and its owners were worried it was overdosing. Not knowing what to do, they brought it to Station 82.“The raccoon was very lethargic,” Pruitt said. “She started explaining what had happened. INDIANTOWN, Fla. — Heartbreaking new details are coming to light about the deadly shooting of a mother in front of her six children on Tuesday.According to Martin County, Florida, Sheriff William Snyder, Maribel Rosado Morales, 32, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Donald Williams, 27, inside a home.The sheriff said six children, ranging in age from 9 to 17, were inside the home at the time of the shooting."We think most of the children in the home saw it," Snyder said at a news conference on Tuesday.On Wednesday, WPTV spoke to Morales' fiancé and brother, both of who did not want to be identified. They confirmed that all six children are Morales' and she was keeping them home from school because of the COVID-19 pandemic."She was a strong person. She was a loving person," said Morales' brother.Morales' fiancé said he was on the phone with her when the shooting happened, and he could hear the children yelling that their mother had been shot.The fiancé said that after Morales was hit, she barricaded herself inside a closet for her safety and so her children wouldn't see."I was on the phone with her. I said, 'baby, call the police,'" Morales' fiancé said. "Why? She didn’t do nothing. Why? She didn’t deserve it. I wasn’t there to save her. I wasn’t there."Sheriff Snyder said at least one of the children was doing virtual learning during the first day of school in Martin County when the gunfire rang out."[The teacher] did hear some high tone conversation, noticed some kind of confrontation, muted it, and then watched the [child] put her hands up to her ears," Sheriff Snyder said.On Wednesday, Morales' family members said the child on the class call at the time is 9 years old and has Down syndrome.Williams was taken into custody not long after the shooting while trying to board a public transportation bus.“I have hatred. Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I want to do 1,000 things to him. But you know what? I forgive him, man. I forgive him and he’ll have his day," Morales' fiancé said. It only took a little over 15 minutes for Ed Bledsoe to lose three lives that meant the world to him -- his wife and their two great-grandchildren.He had left his home in Shasta County, California, on Thursday to go to the doctor, he told CNN on Sunday. The Carr Fire had been burning for four days at that point and Bledsoe said he didn't realize the fire was coming into his neighborhood.He also said his family was never told to evacuate.While he was out, his 70-year-old wife, Melody Bledsoe, called and told him she could see the fire and that he needed to come get her and their great-grandchildren, 4-year-old Emily Roberts and 5-year-old James Roberts, who Ed Bledsoe called "Junior.""I said 'I'm on my way.' So I just throwed down everything and took off," he said.Ed Bledsoe said he wasn't able to use his usual route to get home because of traffic congestion in the fire area, so he left his car and tried to make it home on foot but that, too, was not possible."I took off running down there (toward his house) and I helped some guy that got burnt ... I got him and helped him out of there and when I got back down there the fire was" -- Bledsoe paused, seeming to search for a word to accurately convey the chaos -- "the fire was ... just intense."But I still tried to get down in there and they come and stopped me and wouldn't let me get down in there."Bledsoe said he got back in his car and sped through an alternate route, passing "everybody in the dirt" but still could not get to his house.At the same time, his sons also tried to get to the house, he said, and heat and flames were so intense as one son tried "it burned his hair off. INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis lawyer is accused of flashing a bus carrying a girls' basketball team on two separate occasions while driving. Norwell High School girls’ basketball coach Eric Thornton said he was driving the girls to a tournament in June when a man pulled up beside their bus on I-70 near the airport and exposed himself. “He knew it was a school bus,” said Thornton. “(He) knew it was high school aged females on the bus.”The man, who police have identified as Raymond Fairchild, then exited the highway before the team could get the license plate on his Honda CRV. “The girls were horrified and just very disturbed,” said Thornton. In an attempt to identify the alleged flasher, Thornton posted a photo taken moments before the incident on social media. That post made its way to Union City where a second girls’ basketball team reported a similar incident last February – from what appeared to be the same man. “Once we found out that he’d done it before it was obvious this was a pattern,” said Thornton. It didn’t take long before someone on Facebook recognized that man as Fairchild and contacted investigators. The 71-year-old is listed as having a law office in downtown Indianapolis. “He should never be allowed to practice law again in my opinion,” said Thornton. “He should be put away for a time.”Fairchild now faces six counts of public nudity and indecency charges. His first court appearance is set for October 26. “It’s a crime against innocent, na?ve girls who just saw abnormal behavior and had no idea what would happen next,” said Thornton. “He needs to be severely punished for his behavior.”  1669
