Deputies say a woman attacked a mother and daughter on a Greyhound bus that had departed from Las Vegas. According to investigators, three strangers helped to save the child's life.The bus left Las Vegas shortly after 7 a.m. Monday and was headed to San Francisco. Teresa Ann Andrade Madrigal attacked the mother and child, just 45 minutes after leaving the station in Bakersfield, authorities report."The lady had the baby in her hand," said one passenger, "...and next thing I know, I heard she has a knife."Investigators say Madrigal appeared to be delusional. They say Madrigal grabbed the child around the neck and held her at knife point. That's when the child's mother started to fight the attacker.Soon, the bus driver and two other passengers jumped into action. The mother was stabbed in the abdomen. The men were able to help get the child  away from the suspect.In total, five people were hurt. We're told Madrigal, who was speaking to herself, was initially asked to get off the bus. The driver felt that it was safe to let the woman back on the bus after speaking with her outside.Right now, the investigation into this incident is ongoing. Investigators say Madrigal also stabbed herself. The child's mother, who has not been identified, had surgery on Monday.  She is expected to make a full recovery. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - MLB Hall of Famer, Trevor Hoffman, joined joint developers, Zephyr Partners and The Robert Green Company Monday in supporting an initiative that would give San Diegans access to a bluff-top site that has been closed to the public for a century.The plan is to transform a nearly 17-acre site at 3350 Camino Del Mar into a luxury resort with public access to the beach down below."To be able to actually come here and enjoy it, have a glass of wine at one of the restaurants or walking on one of the trails, I'm really looking forward to it," said Del Mar resident of 50 years, KC Vafiadis. The two developers want to create a luxury resort called "Marisol" which would include a hotel with 65 rooms, 31 villas, dining options, gardens, cocktail lounge, spa and access to the beach down below. The plan is a smaller version of the original proposal, which was met with backlash by residents of Solana Beach and Del Mar. They worried it would obstruct ocean views and increase traffic in the area, so the developers downsized the project by 40-percent.The new plan is an alternative to a proposal that was already approved, which would create private, gated estates.The developers now hope to gather enough signatures for a citizen's initiative to put the plan on the ballot next March. They say they're taking into consideration bluff safety and stabilization and have plans for traffic relief as well.The initiative will be filed with the Del Mar Clerk Monday. 1492

DEL MAR, Calif., (KGTV)— “Enter at your own risk”— That’s what the signs at Del Mar Beach say after at least three shark sightings in as many days. There was also one sighting off the Coronado Coast around noon Wednesday.Del Mar is precisely the escape Kathleen Pierce and her family were after. “We have been suffering in the hundred-degree weather in Temecula so we thought we’d come down to the beach,” Pierce said. It was a great plan until she saw the warning sign at the beach entrance. ADVISORY: SHARK SIGHTED. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.“I saw the sign, and I had to pause,” Pierce said. But they jumped into the water anyway, because she figured, the likelihood of actually coming up onto a shark was low. But a few minutes in, her son spotted a few. “When the wave was about to crash, I just saw all of them swimming in a group,” her son Drew said. Drew said they were only about three to four feet long, so he ignored them. His friend was frightened and ran to the shore. “The sharks that were seen off of Del Mar, based on the size, we know that they were juveniles,” Research Biologist at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Heidi Dewar said. Dewar said if the sharks are under six feet, they are juveniles. They eat smaller fish, so they pose no threat to people. It is their parents we need to worry about. “If I saw a sub-adult or anything over 6 feet, I would probably personally get out of the water,” Dewar laughed. Pierce decided to say and keep an eye on her children at all times, because leaving early to get back to triple-digit temperatures, was not part of her plan. “If nothing else, we would just go a little bit more shallow water,” Pierce laughed. “We would not turn around and go back.”Dewar’s best advice to avoid shark attacks:1. But this year, the command is making sure the coronavirus won’t sideline the fabled Santa Claus from delivering gifts around the world. This is the 65th year for the U.S.-Canadian operation that has tracked the jolly old man since a child mistakenly called the base asking to speak to Santa. Air Force Gen. Glen D. VanHerck says he's confident that Santa Claus knows how to stay safe. He says even a pandemic won't disrupt Santa’s schedule.
