(CNN) -- It may seem like an ordinary scene: Children and adults playing on pink seesaws, carelessly laughing and chatting with each other.But this is a playground unlike any other. These custom-built seesaws have been placed on both sides of a slatted steel border fence that separates the United States and Mexico.The idea for a "Teeter-Totter Wall" came from Ronald Rael, an architecture professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and Virginia San Fratello, an associate professor of design at San Jose State University -- and it was a long time coming.In 2009, the two designed a concept for a binational seesaw at the border for a book, "Borderwall as Architecture," which uses "humor and inventiveness to address the futility of building barriers," UC-Berkeley said.Ten years later, their conceptual drawings became reality. (KGTV) - An 8-year-old boy who floated out to sea on a giant unicorn raft is safe thanks to a volunteer water rescue team. The Ohio boy, who was vacationing on North Carolina’s Oak Island with his family, was swept away by a gust of wind. He was blown nearly half a mile into the Atlantic Ocean. “From witness comments heard on the beach, and some witness comments we’ve read on social media, it happened suddenly when the wind pushed the raft from shallow water to deeper water in seconds. Once it was out past the waves, the big float acted like a sail and the unicorn float kept going away from the beach,” Oak Island Water Rescue reported. At least one person attempted to swim out to the boy but failed, said OIWR. When rescue teams reached the scene, they launched their boat into the surf and recovered the boy.The boy was safely reunited with his mother, OIWR said. "He was a brave one," rescuer Tony Young told 10News.WWAY-TV reports other floats blew out to sea several times last year, but this was the first time a child was still on board. “A strong wind gust can send a raft on the move. In fact, on days where we have a strong wind blowing toward the ocean, it is not uncommon for us to get multiple 911 dispatches for rafts blown into deeper water,” reported OIWR. (KGTV) -- California is among the least-patriotic states in the nation, according to a new report from WalletHub. The Golden State took the 48th spot on the list of most-patriotic states. According to the report, California’s military engagement rank fell to the 30th spot on the list while the state ranked 48th for civic engagement. (KGTV) - Federal investigators are asking for possible victims of a convicted child predator and retired Vista school district high school teacher to come forward. Tay Cooper, 67, pleaded guilty in 2018 to possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to one year in federal prison and seven years of supervised release. The judge ordered Cooper to pay ,000 in restitution to the four victims identified in the images and videos. Last September, Homeland Security Investigations agents received information from a potential victim who accused Cooper of sexual abuse. I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here with Mr. Cooper but we have to do our due diligence to find that out," said Cher Durst, HSI Assistant Special Agent in Charge.Investigators worry there could be more victims due to Cooper's extensive teaching career, which includes 20 years at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Also of concern was that Cooper was a beloved teacher, winning Teacher of the Year two years in a row while in Los Angeles County. "He chaperoned trips, he initiated clubs, things of that nature in the school, which gave him really unlimited access to children in those school districts," said Durst. (KGTV) - A workplace shooting at YouTube's San Bruno headquarters has left many local workers wondering, "what would I do?"Cody Perron, COO of the security firm Fidelis Global Group, said it initially comes down to two simple things every employee can do."Number one is maintain situational awareness, so anywhere you are whether it's public or your office space," Perron said. "If it's in public, be concerned with your surroundings and notice things that stand out, that are counter to normal activity in that environment. So when you walk inside a facility, especially where you work, you should know where your entries and exits are.
