BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- China's disciplinary watchdog has released a set of rules outlining punishment for Party members in leading positions meddling in the real estate industry, in an effort to uproot corruption in the field.The rules, issued by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), say "meddling in construction-related fields" refers to officials abusing their power by directly or indirectly asking departments to affect construction projects' normal procedures.Such acts include meddling in projects' decision-making process, public bidding and approval of transfer of land use.The construction sector is susceptible to corruption. Many officials have stepped down after being caught colluding with business owners and real estate developers.

BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- China is disappointed the European Union (EU) has decided to launch an anti-subsidy investigation into imported Chinese coated paper, Ministry of Commerce (MOC) spokesman Yao Jian said Saturday."China will closely follow this issue and reserves its right to take necessary measures in accordance with WTO rules," Yao said.He said the coated paper probe is the EU's first anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese products.The EU launched an anti-dumping investigation on Chinese coated paper two months ago, he said.Increased trade protectionism is a major threat to the world economy recovery, Yao said."To create a win-win situation, China and the EU should settle trade disputes cooperatively," he added.MOC data shows the EU initiated seven anti-dumping investigations against China in 2009.The EU is China's largest trade partner, with bilateral trade volume exceeding 360 billion U.S. dollars last year.

BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao left here Monday morning for the upcoming Nuclear Security Summit on April 12-13 in Washington at the invitation of the U.S. President Barack Obama.Hu will deliver a speech stressing the importance of nuclear security and clarifying China's policy on the issue. BRISBANE, Australia, April 4 (Xinhua) -- All the crew members are safe after a Chinese coal ship ran aground off the eastern coast of Australia on Saturday, said Chinese Consul-general in Brisbane Ren Gongping on Sunday.Ren told Xinhua that the 230-meter-long bulk coal carrier Shen Neng 1 ran aground about 70 km east of Great Keppel Island in Queensland State shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday.The vessel, carrying 950 tons of heavy fuel oil and 65,000 tons of coal, is bound for China.Ren said he had phoned the captain of the carrier, Wang Jichang, who told Ren that drinking water and food are enough for the 23 crew members. The incident caused no injuries to the crew.The consul-general said the captain told him the incident is not serious and repair is underway.Ren added that he was very much concerned about the safety of the Chinese crew and he had contacted the local police immediately after learning the incident. The police had assured Ren that they would try their best to safeguard the crew in case of an emergency.Three police ships have reached the area and are ready to take the crew to safe place from the coal carrier.
