But he made them without even thinking about it, because it was his heart. This is who he was as an individual."Smith who baptized Garcia, described him as a fun-loving kid who loved football and enjoyed being outdoors. He hopes Garcia's brave sacrifice will bring some comfort to his family."This doesn't ease the pain any. It doesn't stop the void that will forever be there, but it does bring a measure of peace," he said.Even though all the victims of the massacre have been identified, Garcia's family has not yet been able to see his body."They (Garcia's family) are praying and hoping that they will be able to be reunited with him and see their son," Smith said.Garcia and his family attended nearby Crosby Church, which held a memorial service Monday night for the slain teen. 1888

As the counting of ballots continue, one trend is emerging: the final result will be close. A potential consequence of that will be a recount. Perhaps in one state or in multiple states. For example, in Arizona, an automatic recount is triggered if the margin between candidates is less than or equal to 0.1 percent of the votes cast. As Republicans on Monday hit the leaders of major cities helmed by Democrats for their handling of the unrest in the US this summer, thousands took to the streets following the shooting of Jacob Blake.Blake was shot seven times by Kenosha, Wisconsin, police officers on Sunday. Video showed Blake walking into a car when he was shot from behind. As many key details from Sunday’s incident are still not confirmed, Kenosha Police announced that two of the officers involved have been placed on leave.The incident prompted further unrest in a number of US cities on Monday, calling for justice. Supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement also are calling for the arrest of the officers involved in Blake’s shooting.Meanwhile, Republicans tried to pin the unrest and protests that turned violent on Democrats during Monday's portion of the Republican National Convention. The unrest ramped up following the death of George Floyd on Memorial Day. While most of the largest US cities are run by Democrats, unrest has also played out in large cities run by Republicans, including Fort Worth and Jacksonville.To illustrate their point, Republicans called on St. Louis attorneys Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who were criminally charged after video shared on social media indicated that the McCloskeys pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters in their gated community."Whether it's the defunding of police, ending cash bails so criminals can be released back out on the streets the same day to riot again, or encouraging anarchy and chaos on our streets, it seems as if the Democrats no longer view the government's job as protecting honest citizens from criminals, but rather protecting criminals from honest citizens,” Mark McCloskey said. “Not a single person in the out of control mob you saw at our house was charged with a crime. But you know who was? We were. Bad news: There is a small chance an asteroid will collide with Earth. The good news: Mankind has more than 115 years to prepare for it. According to a Washington Post report, NASA is preparing for possible tactics to deflect the asteroid Bennu, which will approach Earth Sept. 21, 2135. As of today, NASA rates Bennu's chance of striking Earth at one-in-2,700.The asteroid is roughly 1,600 feet in diameter, and would not be an Earth-ending event if it struck. But that doesn't mean it couldn't cause damage, especially if it struck near a populated area. Bennu is likely dozens of times larger than the object that struck near Chelyabinsk, Russia in 2013, causing hundreds of injuries, and thousands of broken windows. The event caused nearly million in damage to roughly 7,000 buildings. The 2013 event shows that even small objects are capable of causing massive damage. In 2016, NASA launched OSIRIS-REx, which will land on the asteroid and bring back samples. The information gathered could help NASA decide what steps it would take to deflect the asteroid. According to the Washington Post, NASA is working on a plan called the Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response, or HAMMER. NASA's HAMMER plan could involve using a nine-ton bulk impactor to push Bennu out of Earth's path. Another idea would be straight out of the movie "Armageddon," using a nuclear-type device to move the asteroid. A NASA engineer involved in the study told the Washington Post all of these ideas are theoretical. “We’re doing these design studies to prepare ourselves, so if we do find a threatening object, we’re better prepared to deal with it,” Brent W.
