Safety protocols require masks in clubhouses and close proximity indoors, but not on the field. San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has often sported a face mask during practices at Petco Park, among a handful of other players.The Friars have had two players test positive for COVID-19 since summer training camps resumed. (KGTV) — City officials are investigating an incident caught on video between an African American man and a white La Mesa Police officer that led to the officer being placed on leave.The video, posted to Facebook this week, shows the incident that occurred at the Grossmont Trolley Station on Fletcher Parkway. The city said the footage appears to "indicate that a LMPD officer detained an African American male, and in the process, the LMPD officer administered physical contact."The video footage starts after an altercation had already begun between Amaurie Johnson and the police officer. It then shows the escalation and Johnson being placed in handcuffs. Johnson is told that he's being charged with assaulting an officer and led to a police vehicle.RELATED: La Mesa officer in arrest video placed on leave, pending investigation“For that situation to escalate the way it did, and for the cop, you know, to stand firm in his beliefs that I should be detained or taken in with no prior evidence or reasoning, I think that should be seen by the people,” Johnson said in an interview with 10News.He said he was waiting for his friend at the trolley stop, near a building where that friend lives.Johnson said an officer started questioning him and he gave him the information that he wanted.The nearly six-minute video shows a heated verbal exchange between Johnson and the officer. It also shows the officer forcefully push Johnson into a sitting position onto a nearby bench.Johnson told 10News at no point did he resist or assault anyone."I feel as though people that look like me, um, feel the same way I do and we're tired of it. We're tired of having to deal with stuff like that,” he said.Johnson said he was cited with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.The La Mesa Police Department did not respond to our request for information about the citations. The department also didn’t respond to our request for the officer’s body camera video or release the name of the officer involved in the incident.On Thursday, the La Mesa Police Department issued a statement, saying they are "aware of a video circulating on social media depicting an interaction between a police officer and a citizen at the Grossmont Trolley Station yesterday. We immediately began a review of the incident to find out what happened. A 17-year-old victim in a series of deadly package bombs delivered to homes in Austin, Texas, was identified Tuesday as Draylen Mason, as a law enforcement source revealed the same person may have constructed the three devices.Mason, described by Austin Police Chief Brian Manley as an "outstanding young man who was going places with his life," was killed when a package on the porch of a Texas home exploded Monday morning. His mother is in stable condition.The name of a 75-year-old woman wounded in a second incident Monday has not been released. The bombings have shaken residents and cast suspicion on one of life's common occurrences: getting a package delivered to your doorstep.One of the explosive packages was brought indoors and yielded parts that could be reconstructed, according to the law enforcement source. The devices were essentially pipe bombs rigged to explode upon opening, the source said.The three package bombs have exploded at homes in the Texas capital over 10 days, killing two people and injuring two others. Investigators say they believe the incidents are related, and residents have responded anxiously in the past day.Austin police have received 265 calls about suspicious packages, Manley said Tuesday, though police haven't indicated any subsequent check revealing anything alarming."What caused this in these instances was a suspicious package that no one was suspecting or expecting," Austin Mayor Steve Adler said Tuesday. (KGTV) - When it comes to lifting up someone in need and changing lives, it only takes one person to make a difference. Owning a busy auto repair shop in Vista isn’t enough for TJ Crossman. Life hasn’t always been easy for him as a cancer survivor, widower and single dad. Four years ago, Crossman discovered ‘Wheels to Prosper’, a nationwide collective of independently owned auto shops that fix up cars and give them away to people in need. Crossman put out the word on social media and applications came pouring in. “I’ve heard about people with cancer, elderly, homeless and want to live in the car,” Crossman said. Applications came pouring in. “It catches on; it’s infectious,” said Crossman. Last year a car was awarded to 19-year-old Matthew Haynes, a heart transplant recipient who spent months in the hospital. “When I learned i won, it was overwhelming. It was great,” said Haynes. “I loved the stereo, the trunk, the seats; I love the whole car.” Two years ago the Tapia family was selected. Their daughter has a rare genetic disorder and needs to be driven to Rady Children’s Hospital on a regular basis. The family car had broken down and ignited on the side of the road. “When we were blessed with this it was an amazing feeling. I know I broke down and cried,” said Michelle Tapia. Haynes and Tapia are grateful to Crossman, who they describe as thoughtful and caring. “It’s just a blessing that a guy like him is around to give reassurance to those who have lost hope,” said Haynes. 1507
