ATHENS, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday pledged to support a stable euro and strengthen cooperation with the European Union (EU)."China will not reduce its euro-bond holdings and China supports a stable euro," Wen said during a speech at the Greek parliament.China and the EU have signed a string of important trade investment contracts to help Europe overcome its financial difficulties, said Wen who arrived in Athens on Saturday on a three-day official visit.Since the outbreak of the global financial crisis, Chinese leaders have visited Europe several times and had frequent meetings with EU leaders, noted the Chinese premier.That, he said, shows Beijing attaches great importance to China-EU relations and "wants to join you in a concerted effort to tide over difficulties."After some European countries suffered sovereign debt crisis earlier this year, Wen said, his government announced many times that Beijing firmly supports the measures adopted by the EU and the International Monetary Fund."China is sincere in enhancing cooperation with Europe and we are confident about the prospects of our cooperation," Wen said.Thanks to joint efforts, China-EU trade has already exceeded the pre-crisis level, he said."China is committed to advancing China-EU relations. BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan on Thursday called for efforts from both sides to safeguard the relations between China and the United States."The two nations should further enhance understanding and mutual trust to avoid politicizing economic and trade issues," Wang said when meeting Madeleine Albright, former U.S. secretary of state.During their meeting at Zhongnanhai in downtown Beijing, Wang said Sino-U.S. relations were "moving forward through difficulties."Economic and trade cooperation between the two sides were expanding and the interaction between Chinese and U.S. enterprises and markets intensifying, Wang said."China will not change its policy of opening-up and the investment environment will also be improved," he said, asking foreign entrepreneurs to be confident and patient.Albright said a sound U.S.-China relationship was critical to the world economy.

MUSCAT, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser Jia Qinglin arrived here Saturday for an official goodwill visit intended to promote the development of relations between China and Oman.Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, delivered a written speech at the airport of the Omani capital.In the speech, Jia hailed the traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation between China and Oman, which was once connected by the "Silk Road", pledging to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples through his visit.Oman is the third leg of Jia's four-state visit. He has visited Syria and Poland and will visit Kazakhstan.

"Currently the world economy is recovering slowly, but the outlook still remains uncertain," Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said while meeting with visiting IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn in Beijing.To completely get over the global financial crisis and realize sustainable development requires the international community to follow a path for mutual benefits and common development, face up to what caused the financial crisis and step up reform of the global economic and financial systems, he added.Praising China's counter measures against the crisis as "correct", Strauss-Kahn said the IMF values China's position and role and would like to build closer ties with the country.He called on countries to help one another to consolidate the growth momentum of the world economy.In an earlier meeting with Strauss-Kahn, Vice Premier Wang Qishan urged timely adjustments to global economic rules and standards to keep pace with the development of the global economy."The developing countries and emerging economies should have more say in the process," he added.He said the international community should work closely to ensure a success of the upcoming G20 Seoul Summit.In response, Strauss-Kahn said the IMF would continue to strengthen cooperation with China and increase the country's representation and voice in the organization.

BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official Tuesday urged state-run publishing houses to resist vulgarity.Li Changchun, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during a visit to the 17th Beijing International Book Fair.Li also urged Chinese publishers to expand their share of the international publishing market.Li said state-run publishing houses should reform their structures of ownership to increase their competitiveness and expand their international market share.The official also encouraged Chinese publishers to create more publications.Li Changchun (2nd L), a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, visits the 17th Beijing International Book Fair in Beijing, capital of China, on Aug. 31, 2010.He also urged them to resist vulgar and kitsch works both in print and in electronic media.The book fair, co-sponsored by the General Administration of Press and Publication, the Information Office of the State Council and other government departments, has attracted nearly 2,000 publishing and distribution companies from more than 58 countries and regions.
