SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a school in the College East area late Thursday night.At around 11 p.m., San Diego police were called to Harriet Tubman School on 6880 Mohawk St. in response to two people seen on the campus.When officers arrived, the two people ran away. Following a brief foot chase, police caught the pair and took them into custody.Police said officers discovered a classroom with a window that was smashed, a vandalized TV screen inside a room and graffiti.Officers also found fireworks they believe the two people planned to set off. 603

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Witnesses say a woman was driving at least 100 mph before she crashed into a power pole in the Oak Park area and died early Sunday morning.The crash happened in the 2000 block of 54th Street around 1:30 a.m.According to witnesses, the woman was traveling at approximately 100 mph when she struck a curb, skidded out of control and hit a power pole.The 33-year-old became pinned inside the vehicle after the crash. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to cut the woman out of the vehicle.The woman died at the scene due to her injuries. This morning he received a life-changing gift that will give him more freedom when he finally makes that transition. Dozens of family and friends gathered outside the VA Hospital in La Jolla as the Stacy family was given the keys to their new adaptive van. “I'm nervous to drive it though,” says wife Lindsey Stacy. “It’s very big but. I’m just so thankful that we are going to have something that’s going to accommodate our family.”The large van will not only be able to seat Stacy but their eldest son, who is also in a wheelchair. “We can all just fit with everything that we have, and we can all just continue on with our lives,” says Stacy.Help Our Military Heroes has gifted over 100 military families with adaptive vans. 911

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — USO San Diego's annual "Santa Store" event kicks off with a special event Tuesday night at their downtown office.The event allows children of military service members to pick a free present they can give their parents as a holiday gift."It just helps give a little more holiday cheer for our service members who do so much to keep us safe and secure at home," USO San Diego CEO Lorin Stewart told 10News.Volunteers collected and wrapped thousands of presents, including watches, tool kits, headphones, makeup kits, and handbags. The parents stay outside the Santa while USO San Diego volunteers help the children select the right gift. "They love being able to talk about what mom and dad are into and what they like, and then have that surprise under the tree," said military spouse Ashley Camak, who organizes the annual event. "Just makes it a magical moment for them."The evening also includes a meal, play area, and chance to take a picture with Santa. The "Santa Store" will be open December 4-6 from 5-8pm. 1040
