SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect caught on video stealing a bike from a San Carlos garage in late October. According to police, the theft happened on the 6600 block of Bell Bluff Avenue on October 25 around 2 p.m. Police say the suspect backed his truck into the victim’s garage before using bolt cutters to cut a lock and steal a M80 mountain bike. According to police, the theft wasn’t the first time mountain bikes were stolen from the same home. On October 13 and 15, the victim had two other mountain bikes stolen from the garage. The total value of the three bikes is ,000, police say. At this time, it’s unknown if the same suspect is responsible for all three thefts. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s or 40s with short, blonde hair and a full beard. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 33-year-old man was shot three times Sunday while driving with a companion, police said.The shooting happened at 1:22 a.m. at the intersection of Mary Lou Street and A Street when a man standing on the corner opened fire at the victim's vehicle multiple times, said Officer S. Foster of the San Diego Police Department.The victim was taken to a hospital by his companion, Foster said, where he was treated and was expected to survive.The suspect fled the scene and police detectives are investigating the incident, the officer said. 560

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A deer mouse found in Warner Springs tested positive for the potentially deadly hantavirus, San Diego County Vector Control and environmental health officials announced Friday.Vector Control officials said the mouse was found during a routine monitoring operation. Multiple mice collected by Vector Control have tested positive for the virus in areas of north and east county, including Fallbrook, Boulevard, Bonsall, 4S Ranch and Potrero, since January.With each instance, county officials have reminded residents to avoid sweeping or vacuuming rodent droppings, which can kick the virus up into the air.Residents are advised to use so-called "wet cleaning" methods like a diluted bleach spray, disinfectants or a sponge and a mop to clean up wild rodent matter like urine, feces and saliva. Cleaned areas should also be well- ventilated as well to ensure the virus does not linger.Hantavirus is not uncommon in San Diego County's more rural and undeveloped areas, but residents can avoid exposure by keeping rodents out of their homes, sheds and garages, according to Vector Control. Wild mice, in particular, are the virus' main carriers.There is no cure or vaccine for hantavirus, which can cause deadly infections. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 69-year-old man was hospitalized this morning with a broken leg he sustained in a hit-and-run crash in the Teralta West neighborhood.The pedestrian was crossing northbound at the intersection of Orange and Central avenues at 10:15 p.m. Friday when a vehicle driving east on Orange Avenue turned north onto Central Avenue and struck the man, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The vehicle backed up after the crash, then drove away west on Orange Avenue, Heims said.The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, Heims said.The suspect vehicle was described as a light-colored, 4-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac G6 or similar vehicle. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A judge Monday denied a request by four San Diego County businesses seeking to resume indoor operations following the county's recent slide into the purple tier of the state's coronavirus reopening plan.San Diego Superior Court Judge Kenneth J. Medel heard arguments Friday on the lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month on behalf of Cowboy Star Restaurant and Butcher Shop, Home & Away Encinitas, Fit Athletic Club and Bear Republic, shortly before indoor operations were suspended for nonessential businesses in the county due to rising COVID-19 case numbers.The businesses sought a temporary restraining order halting the prohibition on indoor operations, contending that San Diego County's increased case numbers are not a result of exposures at restaurants, gyms and other types of businesses impacted by the closures.While Medel and the state conceded pandemic restrictions have created negative economic impacts for businesses, both stated the public health concerns outweighed those harms.In his ruling, Medel wrote, "In the court's mind, the impact on public health of dismantling a portion of the state's COVID-19 response designed to reduce community spread outweighs the economic harm to plaintiffs at least pending further examination of these issues in any upcoming hearing on preliminary injunction."A status conference was scheduled for Dec. 2 for discussion regarding a preliminary injunction hearing.Wilson Elser, the law firm representing the businesses, declined comment on the ruling, stating through a spokesperson that it does not comment on active lawsuits.The lawsuit cited figures indicating restaurants/bars, retail businesses, places of worship, schools and gyms make up a small percentage of infections and confirmed community outbreaks.During Friday afternoon's hearing, attorney Bruno Katz, representing the businesses, referenced an adjudication request submitted to the state by San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten, which sought to have San Diego County remain in the red tier.
