KENOSHA, Wis. — In an open letter, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers asked President Donald Trump to reconsider his planned visit to Kenosha on Tuesday."I am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing," Evers wrote in the letter on Sunday. "...an in-person visit from you will require a massive re-direction of these resources to support your visit at a time when it is critical that we continue to remain focused on keeping the people of Kenosha safe and supporting the community's response."In response, the White House said that Trump's visit would continue as scheduled."The White House has been humbled by the outreach of individuals from Kenosha who have welcomed the President's visit and are longing for leadership to support local law enforcement and businesses that have been vandalized," White House spokesperson Judd Deere wrote in a statement. "President Trump looks forward to visiting on Tuesday and helping this great city heal and rebuild."During a press conference on Monday, City of Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian was also against Trump visiting. “We want everything to calm down. We want to give people an opportunity to talk before the president comes into town.”It's been one week since Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey. Days of protests, looting, and fires followed. During unrest last Tuesday night, investigators believe 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse traveled more than a dozen miles to the city and later shot and killed two people and injured a third."People are scared, people are tense," said Kenosha resident Austin Kitchens.Later on Sunday, several Kenosha County supervisors also wrote a letter to Trump, countering the governor and asking the President not to cancel his plans to visit."Kenoshans are hurting and looking for leadership, and your leadership in this time of crisis is greatly appreciated by those devastated by the violence in Kenosha," the letter reads. Seven supervisors, including Zach Rodriguez, Gabe Nudo, Amy Maurer, Jeff Wamboldt, Mark Nordigian, Erin Decker, and Lon Wienke, signed it.Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat, also tweeted that the President should rethink his visit. Kaul is leading the investigation into the shooting of Jacob Blake.Other Democrats agree with the governor."There are a number of ways the President can help if wants to be helpful, but ultimately divisive rhetoric at this time will not help our community heal and grieve," State Rep. Tip McGuire, D-Kenosha, said. Some people in Kenosha said they do not want the President to visit. Others, like Ruth Simon, say that while they are worried that tensions will flare again, she's excited for the President to be in Kenosha."Because he's done a lot, I feel he's done a lot for us," Simon said.Republicans in Wisconsin believe the President is visiting at the right time and that his presence will show leadership."I reached out to the President on Tuesday, and he said he would provide additional resources to the city of Kenosha, those were essential to get in," Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wisconsin, said. "Many men and women stood up to help provide that public safety in Kenosha, and the President is coming to say thank you."Steil said he would be in Kenosha with the President on Tuesday, and it will give him a chance to talk about how the city can move forward."We've now established public safety in the city of Kenosha, we now begin the healing process, and the rebuilding process, and I think it's a great opportunity to have that conversation with the President," Steil said. This story was originally published by Stephanie Haines on WTMJ in Milwaukee. 3665

JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) — Two San Diego breweries are coming together to help veterans and first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.Julian's Nickel Beer Co. collaborated with San Diego's Bitter Brothers Brewing Co. to create Warrior Contribution Beer, a 5%, golden ale described as, "a beer that everyone could enjoy and that would be perfect for our warm San Diego days," Nickel Beer Co. owner, Tom Nickel, says. All of the beer's proceeds will be donated to Julian's Inner North Star PTSD Retreat Center to help provide no-cost retreats to veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD.RELATED: Museum of Beer planned to open in San Diego's East Village next yearNickel says the beer started as a fundraiser idea, before it snowballed into a year-round offering."Then the thought grew into possibly brewing a special beer to release around San Diego for June, which is PTSD Awareness Month. Almost immediately the idea became to brew a year-round beer that would help raise awareness of the PTSD Retreat Center's mission as well as raise money to help put veterans and first responders through the program at no cost," Nickel said.Warrior Contribution Beer will be distributed by Karl Strauss Brewing Company across Southern California starting in May, including at local America Legion and VFW posts. San Diegans can expect to see the beer in 16 oz. cans by the end of the summer, Nickel says.RELATED: Seven San Diego breweries named among 100 best brewers in the world by RateBeerThe beer will also be the featured beer at O'Brien's Pub in Kearny Mesa in June and Hamilton's in South Park will be donating of each pint sold on April 24.On April 27, Nickel Beer Co. plans to hold an Open Brew Day, where the brewery is asking for people to "sponsor a vet" for a day. KGTV (SAN DIEGO) - The report investigating whether President Donald Trump or his aides colluded with Russians to interfere with the 2016 election, or obstruct justice, has been handed over to the Department of Justice. So what now?"He didn't call a ball or a strike, he said you know I'm just going to let you guys do this," said former U.S. Attorney Chuck LaBella. LaBella explained Attorney Robert Mueller is leaving it up to the Department of Justice to decide."I actually think it's the right call for him to make because he is not in the Department of Justice, he's a former prosecutor, he knows what the rules are, he knows what the standard is, but this is a Department of Justice policy decision," LaBella said. LaBella worked on a similar investigation, during former President Bill Clinton's administration, regarding campaign finance abuses. When it comes to how much information can be released, LaBella said the public will probably only see 30-40% of the findings. "People calling for the public wholesale release of this need to really check the law, because the law is pretty clear,", he explained, saying grand jury materials, including interviews, are private."It could potentially hurt people who only had tangential involvement in this. They were initially suspected of bad conduct," he said. LaBella said they were exonerated by the end of the investigation and it would be embarrassing to tie them to the investigation. What does all of this mean to San Diegans?"I don't think anything's going to change the election in California, I mean California's pretty much on one side already," LaBella said.10News spoke with local Democratic Rep. Susan Davis, who adamantly wants the full report released, saying it has huge implications on future politics. "I think it raises a lot of questions for our next election, in what we're going to do, how we're going to prepare for it, and so a lot of this really informs us all to be sure this never happens again," Davis said. She said the investigation took lots of taxpayer money and two years of work and the people deserve to know what came of the investigation. As for President Trump, his response was captured in a tweet: "No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!"LaBella said not so fast."I would not be doing a touchdown dance or a dance of victory quite yet because the Southern District of New York is going to come out with its results of its investigation," La Bella said.He explained the lesser known investigation is "looking at a lot of activities related to his corporate activities, his family's activities, his charitable activities, his campaign finance activities."LaBella said there is no timeline on that investigation, but they are working as fast and meticulously as they can. 2809

Joe Biden was officially nominated as the Democratic nominee for president on Tuesday at the virtual Democratic National Convention. Delegates cast their votes virtually as the in-person convention was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Tuesday's roll call was merely a formality as Biden accumulated more than 50% of pledged delegates during the primaries. Biden is now the nominee-in-waiting, and he will accept the party's nomination on Thursday from Wilmington, Delaware. 490
