The second doses will come in subsequent shipments.While there won’t be enough doses for all the front-line workers at UCSD, it is giving them hope.“The good news is we’ll be getting quite a few doses of the vaccine," Schooley says. “We’ll be getting farther down the list than we thought we were going to get.”The next hurdle for the vaccine is gaining widespread public trust.“These vaccines have been in tens-of-thousands of people and the FDA has gone over the data extremely carefully,” said Schooley. “I certainly would have no qualms myself about getting vaccinated this afternoon.”Schooley says about 70% of the population would need to get vaccinated to reach herd immunity. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Wherever a Topgolf is built in San Diego, it's bound to tee-up some criticism.But as it stands, a potential East Harbor Island location facing golfers toward the downtown skyline may not end up being an option.The Board of Port Commissioners decided to delay a decision earlier this month on entering an exclusive negotiation agreement with Topgolf.RELATED: Gaslamp Quarter thoroughfare may become a promenadeThe Port directed staff to begin mapping out an agreement with Topgolf late last year. East Harbor Island was floated as a potential location at the time. But an agreed upon location must be chosen first before the negotiation starts.During the Feb. 11 meeting, commissioners were presented a study on developing the Harbor Island site and how Topgolf could work into that plan. Three diagrams showed the site's possibilities, with or without Topgolf:A "phase one" diagram included a potential Topgolf plus a 400-space parking lot and 500-room hotel and parking structure on the east side of the island. The "phase two" rendering kept Topgolf and the east-end hotel, but added a hotel development to the facility's west side that could have a shared parking structure with Topgolf.The final diagram depicted three hotel developments on the East Harbor Island land, without Topgolf. All the diagrams were meant to be illustrative of potential ideas of the site, not an official plan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - UC San Diego Health received its first batch of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, and the health care provider expects another shipment next week.“We expect next week to perhaps get 5,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine,” said Dr. Charles Daniels, Chief Pharmacy Officer at UC San Diego Health. Daniels added they could receive the shipment as soon as Monday or Tuesday, but no date has been finalized.The Moderna vaccine is still awaiting emergency use authorization from the FDA, which it could receive this week. Pfizer’s vaccine was the first to get such approval last week.UC San Diego received close to 3,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday and plans to begin administering shots to its highest risk health care workers at its Hillcrest and La Jolla locations Wednesday morning.On Tuesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said California was expected to get 393,000 more doses of the Pfizer vaccine next week, on top of the 327,000 it received this week.
