Following the test, an environmental impact study will be conducted.The tests are part of a larger effort for a proposed artist-designed lighting project that would span 30 pillars of the 2.12-mile bridge. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Border Patrol says it has experienced a major uptick in violence at the border since the arrival of the migrant caravan. Assaults against agents are up 300 percent compared to this time last year, according to San Diego Border Sector Chief Rodney Scott.An agent was struck in the face shield with a rock thrown at the border on New Year’s Eve and was not injured. “These incursions are organized they are bringing people down there for the express purpose of provoking a confrontation,” said Border Patrol agent Joshua Wilson. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The names Linda and Charles Van Kessler might have sounded new, but their efforts were anything but."I started the charity in 1978 and I had to work very hard through jobs when I came here to California," Charles Van Kessler said.Charles was an orphan at a young age in Europe when he arrived to the states and met his wife, Linda."I just felt I needed to do something and it's been phenomenal since," Charles described. "We want to help children that don't have it as easy and are bearing burdens that are too much for their age."That's when the couple created Passion4Kids, a non-profit that helped handicapped, abused and neglected children."We bring toys we bring games we pray with them, we play with them. We do just a lot of stuff to make these kids happier."They felt the effects of COVID-19 like many other organizations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The National Weather Service warned of minor coastal flooding ahead of a King Tide set to hit the San Diego County coastline Monday and Tuesday.The event forced the agency to issue a beach hazards statement from Sunday night through Tuesday evening.Surf will begin to build late Sunday, peaking Monday and Tuesday. By Tuesday night, the surf is expected to diminish, the agency said.High tides Monday will be 6.9 feet at 8 a.m. High tide on Tuesday will be 6.8 feet at 8:40 a.m.The agency warned that the King Tides will create water run-up into some beach parking lots and other low-lying areas.Beaches most prone to flooding include Sunset, Seal, Newport, Oceanside, Cardiff, La Jolla Shores and Imperial Beach.Elevated surf will also create strong rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions, the National Weather Service says. 861
