SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Oceanside woman says she was left feeling violated after her car was stolen from the Porto Vista Hotel's valet in Little Italy. "I had to leave some of my things in my car, like my work computer, some of my personal items that were expensive and personal, but I trusted they would be ok because it was a valet service at the hotel," said Ashley Holthaus, whose car was stolen. Her friend had a room at the hotel, and their group of friends went to a concert at San Diego State that evening. "The next morning, around 6:30 a.m. I got up and walked over to the valet and gave him my ticket and at that point, he looked for my keys and couldn't find my keys or record of my car being at the hotel."Holthaus says the next few hours were extremely stressful as staff tried to figure out what happened. She says she was asked to wait to call police until they had a better idea of what happened.Holthaus was eventually shown surveillance footage. She describes seeing a tall man in a hoodie walk up to the unattended valet kiosk, take her keys, walk straight to her car, and drive out of the parking garage. "Why am I paying for a service and then have something like this happen and then there's no accountability from the hotel?" said Holthaus.Her company's IT department was able to track the computer which was in the car; she says it was located out of the country.Holthaus says to make matters worse, the hotel charged her for the valet and did not offer to compensate her friend for the room.An attorney for the hotel tells 10News there hasn't been an incident like this in Porto Vista's 30 years of operation. The attorney says they've turned over surveillance to police and are cooperating with the investigation. He added that management is taking measure to ensure this doesn't happen again. She had to think quickly when she realized the brakes were cut Tuesday night in Pacific Beach. "My option was either to jump off the scooter or to just roll with it into traffic," said Mary Adamcyk. Adamcyk says she rides electric scooters all the time. Tuesday night, it didn't end well. "I was really freaked out because there were two cars coming towards me."So, she decided to jump. "I just kind of went flying, I mean, I jumped off, I fell to my knees, my cell phone went flying," said Adamcyk. "I had holes just torn into both of my knees, they got cut up. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A two-car collision killed at least one person in San Ysidro early Friday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. when a red car got off state Route 905 at the Caliente Avenue exit, then hit a sign before crashing into a black SUV.The SUV spun around and landed in a nearby ditch. That driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the red vehicle died at the scene.The cause of the crash is unclear. Both he and his wife still have their jobs, but the check will come in handy."Really looking forward to getting the check. I was looking at a check coming fairly quickly, a direct deposit coming of 00," said Perry.Quickly, because Perry had the same bank account for the last 18 years, his IRS refund received via direct deposit every year, including one in April. Taxpayers like Perry should have received their checks during the week of April 13th, a week which came and went for Perry."Halfway through May, I realized something is really up here," said Perry.That's when Perry started logging onto the IRS 'Check My Payment' link, over and over. Hundreds of times."I probably tried a dozen times just last night. The result is always the same," said Perry.That result was this."Got an error message. Either can't verify or don't qualify. None of those things are correct," said Perry.Perry says when he called the number designated by the IRS for 'Economic Impact Payment' questions, he got nowhere."You end up in the same loop, back in the same place where you started from. There's no one you can actually speak to," said Perry.He's written politicians, and every day, he logs onto the IRS site. And he's not alone."I know of two other people in the exact same position I am. I'm frustrated mostly with the IRS website platform, which seems broken to me," said Perry.According to the IRS, 159 million Americans have received their stimulus payments with paper checks still being mailed out in June.An IRS spokesperson told 10news they are asking for patience from the public and continue to working on getting "up to speed" with the online platform. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A woman died Friday morning after she was hit by a vehicle while walking in a Mira Mesa crosswalk.The victim, who has yet to be identified, was crossing the 9200 block of Capricorn Way in a crosswalk at about 9:45 a.m. when she was hit by a vehicle, San Diego Police said. The woman, believed to be in her 40s, died at the scene.Police later found the driver, a 31-year-old man, and his vehicle, a black 2004 Nissan Titan. Police said the driver was making a right turn from Black Mountain Rd. onto Capricorn Wy. when he fatally struck the woman with his vehicle. SDPD did not say if any arrests have been made. Traffic Division Officers were still investigating the incident Friday afternoon. 720
