General Mills and Hersey's are sweetening up your morning. Both companies are teaming up to bring you a brand new breakfast cereal. The Hershey's Kisses cereal is already making special appearances in some limited stores, but should be widely available in January. The pieces are shaped like Hershey's Kisses and reportedly turns milk chocolate-y almost immediately. But remember: Health experts say less than 10 percent of daily calories should come from added sugars, and kids under the age of two shouldn't have any sugar at all. 541

For three years, Comal in Denver has been a place for aspiring entrepreneurs to chase their culinary dreams.“I like to cook. I enjoy it,” Comal employee Martha Ordonez said in Spanish. When the restaurant first opened, workers were a group of women from the neighborhood. Most of them were immigrants who had been living in the United States for a while. Now the food incubator also serves refugees from Syria and Iraq who are fairly new arrivals to the U.S.The idea is to provide a platform and safe place for people in the community to learn skills that can better their lives and the lives of their families.“Business skills, language skills, marketing, basically anything you would need to run your own business,” Comal founder Slavica Park said. However, it’s become more than just a place for training.“I love my culture, and I know that culture can provide more than just a dish,” Comal employee Silvia Hernandez said. It’s become a place of cross-cultural exchange. A place where the workers and the customers can experience something different in their own backyard. “We really encourage them to dig deep, to go back to even their grandma’s recipes, because we really want it to be authentic and specific to their culture,” Park said.“Sometimes I have to call my mom to ask her ‘oh you know this dish? What did you put in that dish?” Hernandez said.Silvia Hernandez is from Mexico City. She’s been cooking at Comal since its inception.“Today I cook chicken with creamy poblano sauce, and I remember my mom cook the poblano sauce, but I add a little bit of spinach so I put a little bit of my own today,” Hernandez said. After a year of learning about the industry, Hernandez was able to open her own catering business. It’s an accomplishment she doesn’t think would have been possible if it wasn’t for her time at Comal, and her ability to get paid while she learned.“That’s good because that’s how we support our families. That’s how I support my family.”Hernandez said a lot of people who work at Comal are looking for hope. And what helps even more is when immigrants like her are welcomed into society.“While Denver has been extremely welcoming to the refugee and immigrant population, here and there obviously you’ll run across misconceptions. And I think one of those typically is that we’re here to get something. I think it’s quite contrary. I think we’re here to really work hard, and also, we do bring many talents and gifts,” Park said. The talents of Hernandez have brought her into a world of culinary success. She says integrating into U.S. culture hasn’t always been easy, but she believes it’s best to keep a positive attitude.“Changes or bad things sometimes make you learn, and have a new beginning,” Hernandez said.It doesn’t matter where you come from. Hernandez says anyone can have a new beginning.“We are welcoming any culture… any kind of cuisine. Can be American, African, Bolivian, Venezuelan, whatever.” 2945

Hope Forti says her husband was many things — but most importantly, a father."He wanted his first identity to be a dad and a foster dad," she said. The couple has a son, Max, and were foster parents to four other children. Two weeks ago, Forti found out she was pregnant. "It was very important to him that we normalize the idea that people need to be involved in foster care or in some way of helping children and families who need it."Kyle John Forti was one of the four Americans killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya Sunday. The US Embassy identified two others as Anders Asher Jesiah Burke and Brandon Howe Stapper. The pilot of the helicopter, Mario Magonga, was also killed. The helicopter crashed Sunday night in the Central Island National Park in Lake Turkana, on the country's northern border, Kenya's Civil Aviation Authority said.A local news outlet reported that two helicopters had taken tourists to the island, which borders Ethiopia and is known for its colony of Nile crocodiles. The other helicopter landed safely, Kenyan police said."We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of all those killed in the crash. We are providing all appropriate consular assistance to the families of the American citizens," an Embassy spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.A father, an inspirationKyle Forti would have turned 30 in August, his wife said. He was a political consultant who always had a way of bringing out the best in people, Hope Forti said. "I feel like we became one, because of the way he loved me and communicated with me. He thought life comes through relationships," she told CNN. "He did that with hundreds and hundreds of people that understood that from him, (that's why) we're so surrounded with love right now."The two met in high school, when Hope decided to add Kyle as a friend on Facebook."I thought he was lovely and cute and thought right away 'this is going to be it,'" she said. They had been together since then, for 12 years. She said she last talked to him a day before the crash, and had felt uneasy about him going on the trip."I never know if that's me just being a homebody or stressed or nervous," she said. Before he left, she and their son crafted a note for Kyle and hid it secretly in his luggage, to remind him they loved him, she said.Kyle Forti was in Kenya to spend time with Burke, who had recently purchased land in Kenya and invited friends out for a visit, Hope Forti said.An "entrepreneur at heart"In a statement, Burke's family said Kenya was the 28-year-old's favorite place on Earth. Burke described it as the closest thing to heaven on earth, a "transcendent experience," his family said.He was originally from San Diego, according to CNN affiliate KSWB.Burke's best friend in high school, Francis Pedraza, said Burke was one of the most brilliant, talented people he knew. He had charisma -- winning national competitions in speech -- and was very interested in politics throughout high school, participating and helping in several candidates' campaigns, Pedraza said. Later, he started a digital marketing agency."He lived with fearless courage and a passion for experiencing all of life's adventures," Burke's family said in their statement."He was born a leader with a unique ability to build teams, streamline and connect. He worked to find others' strengths, develop them, and unleash unlimited potential. His draw was nothing short of magnetic and his energy was palpable."A loving brotherStapper, who also had been invited to Kenya by Burke, would want to be known for being "a self-made entrepreneur," his brother Brett Stapper told KSWB.He said his brother was his "best friend and more like a father," since their father died when they were both young.Stapper had posted pictures of the trip to Instagram, thanking Burke."I thought I'd seen Africa before but this was truly next level," he posted. "We got in our three helicopters and just took off -- landing in places humans haven't been before, jumping out into the Indian Ocean, and flying over local tribes who probably thought we were aliens.""Pictures don't even come close to covering how amazing this trip was," he posted. 4218

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff is scrapping a Wednesday morning meeting intended to take an "enforcement action" against the Justice Department after it agreed to begin providing the committee with counterintelligence documents from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. The decision to postpone the business meeting -- where Schiff was threatened to take an unspecified action against Attorney General William Barr for not complying with the committee's subpoena for Mueller's counterintelligence materials -- is a rare sign of the Trump administration and a House panel successfully negotiating around a Democratic subpoena for documents.Schiff had issued a subpoena for all of Mueller's counterintelligence materials, but he had proposed that the Justice Department begin the effort by providing 12 specific sets of counterintelligence materials that were referenced in the Mueller report. The Justice Department wrote in a letter to Schiff Tuesday that it was continuing to review the initial tranche of 12 categories of documents Schiff wanted and would make them available "in relatively short order," so long as he didn't move forward with an action holding Barr in contempt of Congress."The Department of Justice has accepted our offer of a first step towards compliance with our subpoena, and this week will begin turning over to the Committee twelve categories of counterintelligence and foreign intelligence materials as part of an initial rolling production. That initial production should be completed by the end of next week," Schiff said in a statement Wednesday morning."As a result of the Department's acceptance, the business meeting has been postponed," Schiff added. "The Committee's subpoena will remain in effect, and will be enforced should the Department fail to comply with the full document request. The Department has repeatedly acknowledged the Committee's legitimate oversight interest in these materials. I look forward to, and expect, continued compliance by the Department so we can do our vital oversight work." 2074
