OSAKA, Japan, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping here on Friday called on the Group of 20 (G20) major economies to explore driving force for growth, improve global governance, remove development bottlenecks, and properly address differences.

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the comments in response to the U.S. State Department's approval of a plan to sell weapons worth about 2.2 billion U.S. dollars to Taiwan.

Spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks when commenting on reports that U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had met with Hong Kong businessman Jimmy Lai recently over Hong Kong's amendment of related ordinances.

"The people who are paying tariffs are (in fact) U.S. citizens ... It's coming out of their pockets," said Gilad Alper, head of research at Israel's Excellence Nessuah Trust Company.

Participants to the forum also expressed willingness to actively take part in the construction of the pilot zone, and work together to eradicate the barriers in terms of policy, technology and trade, said the document.
