Dave Walesky. More than 50 dogs and 15 cats were surrendered to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. Around 38 other dogs, left to fend for themselves, mostly in the Glades area.  "Many of them were loose inside fenced yards, some were loose in the community where they just got turned loose or some were tied and left in small cages," says Walesky. "One of the dogs was left tied to a structure with a bowl of water and a bunch of bananas." It's not just sad, it's a crime. "And there is no excuse for leaving your pet behind to die. We are going to hold accountable those who we can prove left their dogs behind in the storm," says Aronberg.   1261

The NCAA announced on Thursday that college football bowl games can commence this season on December 1.In the past, teams needed to have a 6-6 (.500) record at a minimum in order to qualify for a bowl game. But with most teams playing a truncated schedule, the NCAA is lifting its minimum requirement to qualify for bowl games.The news comes as the Pac-12 announced that it will begin play Nov. 6. The announcement means all five of the so-called “power 5” conferences will attempt to play a college football season amid the coronavirus pandemic.The Big 10 and Pac-12 originally decided to postpone starting the season. Advances in rapid testing and public pressure caused the leagues to change their decisions.“Providing a more flexible framework for the postseason in this unprecedented time will provide some certainty moving forward,” said Shane Lyons, director of athletics at West Virginia and chair of the oversight committee. “These are important postseason opportunities for our student-athletes, and this will help everyone to prepare.” 1054

The number of people filing for unemployment for the first time is dropping slightly. Just over 800,000 people filed last week, which is less than what was expected. You may even be happier thinking about your time off even if that just meant you stayed on your living room couch and binged the latest show,” said Salemi.Some employers, like Monster, even added mental health or additional days off this year, recognizing the extreme stress many were under.Salemi says even if you don’t have big plans for your time away from work, create some sort of framework.“It doesn't have to be rigid, but just so you feel like at the end of the day or the end of the time off, you don’t want to feel like it was for not, like its OK if you're just going to rest this whole time,” said Salemi.If you didn't get in all that paid time this year, depending on your circumstance, it’s worth asking to see if you could carry some over into next year.Now is also a good time to plan for 2021. The graphic design and visual elements that go into video games are as in demand in other fields.“So, if you learn video game design, you're able to also help with airlines simulations and so it's creating opportunities across many sectors,” said Pierre-Louis.Advancements rooted in the video game industry have found their way into other areas, including medical imaging and robotics, military training and simulation, and education.Those directly employed by the video game industry make on average 1,000 a year. 1757

The investigation into social media misconduct in the United State Marine Corps. has resulted in at least 55 Marines being punished, including seven courts-martial.USMC said Friday the cases stemming from a massive scandal into online misconduct "proved to be a symptom of a larger problem of bias and exclusion."The 55 Marines punished include seven special and summary courts-martial, six administrative separations, 15 non-judicial punishments, and 27 adverse administrative actions. At least 123 individuals have been investigated for incidents of misconduct involving the non-consensual distribution of explicit images, according to officials. Of those cases, 22 were of civilians outside Department of Defense jurisdiction and 101 were active-duty or reserve Marines.USMC said 82 cases concerning active-duty or reserve Marines have been ruled on while 19 await a decision.The Marine's investigation of the "Marines United" Facebook page prompted a full-scale look into misconduct across social media. Naval Criminal Investigative Service scanned nearly 131,000 images across 168 social media sites.Last year, nude photographs of female Marines and veterans from various military branches and other women were shared on the "Marines United" page. The accompanying posts were found to include obscene and threatening comments and showed women in various stages of undress. Some women were identified and others were not.
