A woman led Sheboygan County Sheriff's deputies through three counties at speeds of more than a 100 mph after she stole candy and lighters. According to the criminal complaint, Nicole Rupert, 34, was pulled over in Sheboygan after being spotted in a Walmart taking some items. She pulled over on the highway at first, but when deputies asked her to move the car farther away from traffic, she took off.Deputies chased her, at one point reaching speeds of 115 mph. She maneuvered around cars on the highway even hit stop spikes near Oostburg. Deputies said her tires blew but she just kept driving.The chase was eventually called off but deputies were told to continue to follow her as she slowed down. Rupert eventually made it to downtown Milwaukee where her car came to a stop.Rupert has been charged with retail theft, fleeing and drug charges. Deputies also found an illegal prescription, pot and mushrooms in her car. She is due in court April 4 at 1:30 p.m.  992

Adidas has voluntarily recalled kids’ swimwear products of the Infinitex 3-Stripe range due to the stripes coming off and them possibly leading to injuries.According to the company, they have received customer reports that the three stripes on the swimwear might come off unexpectedly when in contact with water, which pose a potential safety risk to children as the stripes might get caught on objects or other children outside or inside the water and become entangled, potentially leading to injuries. No injuries have been reported to date. The swimwear, worn by children up to and including the age of 14, were sold as part of the 2017 and 2018 collections in both, youth and adult sizes through adidas.com, Adidas retail stores and at authorized Adidas dealers globally. The affected swimwear products come in several color combinations, has the Adidas 3-stripes trademark grafted on both sides of the swimwear and has the words 'made in Tunisia' on the label. A 6th-grade student at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School in Martin County, Florida has been charged with a misdemeanor after he simulated a shooting, pretending to have a semi-automatic weapon.The Martin County Sheriff's Office said students told teachers that the 6th-grade student allegedly said he had a gun for protection. A school resource officer searched the student and his backpack and did not find a weapon. The child was allowed back to class, but a deputy said, in class, the student put his hands up as if he was firing a semi-automatic weapon and began to make pop noises. The Martin County Sheriff's Office was called out to the school and the student was arrested for disrupting a school function. He is charged with a misdemeanor. No weapon was found. Parents were notified that there was an incident."It was very unnerving and disturbing and once again it's the kids that are suffering and it freaked me out after dropping off my son today, giving him a kiss and knowing how the other parents feel about yesterday and that the kids aren't here. After issuing previous guidance that encouraged schools to close in areas with high transmission of the coronavirus, the CDC is now emphasizing that schools reopen this fall.The guidance issued on Thursday is in line with a Trump administration priority to reopen schools this fall.“It is critically important for our public health to open schools this fall,” said CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield. “The CDC resources released today will help parents, teachers and administrators make practical, safety-focused decisions as this school year begins. I know this has been a difficult time for our Nation’s families. School closures have disrupted normal ways of life for children and parents, and they have had negative health consequences on our youth. CDC is prepared to work with K-12 schools to safely reopen while protecting the most vulnerable.”Now in areas with, as the CDC calls it, "substantial, uncontrolled transmission" of the coronavirus, "Schools should work closely with local health officials to make decisions on whether to maintain school operations. The health, safety, and wellbeing of students, teachers, staff and their families is the most important consideration in determining whether school closure is a necessary step. Communities can support schools staying open by implementing strategies that decrease a community’s level of transmission.
