(KGTV) — A pregnant mother who fell sleep at the wheel early Saturday morning crashed into a Vista building, causing an hours-long gas leak.San Diego Sheriff's deputies say the crash occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on South Santa Fe Ave., near Civic Center Dr., at a Battery World store.A family of five was in the SUV that crashed after the driver, identified as a 30-year-old pregnant mother by deputies, told deputies she fell asleep before she lost control of the vehicle, struck a telephone pole, and crashed into the building.A 40-year-old man, a 3-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy, and a 9-month-old girl were in the SUV at the time of the crash. The driver sustained a bruise to her forehead. No one was seriously injured, deputies said. The family was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.The crash caused a gas leak in the damaged building. SDG&E crews have since fixed the leak. The utility company said the leak did not expose the neighborhood to dangerous levels of gas, but nearby residents were able to smell the gas.No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.S. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court sounded skeptical Monday that President Donald Trump could categorically exclude people living in the country illegally from the population count used to allot seats among the states in the House of Representatives.But it also appeared possible that the justices could avoid a final ruling on the issue until they know how broadly the Trump administration acts in its final days in office and whether the division of House seats is affected.No president has tried to do what Trump outlined in a memo in July — remove millions of noncitizens from the once-a-decade head count of the U.S. population that determines how many seats each state gets in the House of Representatives, as well as the allocation of some federal funding.Justice Amy Coney Barrett was among several members of the court who said the administration’s argument for broad discretion in deciding whom to exclude is troublesome because “a lot of the historical evidence and long-standing practice really cuts against your position.”The court decided to hear the case on a fast track, based on the administration’s plea for a decision by early January, when Trump is required by law to transmit census numbers to Congress. The Census Bureau is supposed to send the data to Trump by Dec. 31. However, the bureau said last month they are checking anomalies and the data will be delayed. Walmart is suing the U.S. government in a pre-emptive strike in the battle over its responsibility in the opioid abuse crisis.The government is expected to take civil action against the world’s largest retailer, seeking big financial penalties, for the role its pharmacies may have played in the crisis by filling opioid prescriptions.But on Thursday, Walmart filed a lawsuit saying that the Justice Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are blaming the company for the government’s own lack of regulatory and enforcement policies to stem the crisis.Walmart says it is seeking a declaration from a federal judge that the government has no lawful basis for seeking civil damages from the company. It is also seeking to clarify its legal rights and duties under the Controlled Substance Act.Walmart operates more than 5,000 pharmacies in its stores around the country.“Walmart and its pharmacists find themselves in an untenable position,” the company based in Bentonville, Arkansas, says in the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. “Under defendants’ sweeping view, Walmart and its pharmacists may be held liable — perhaps even criminally — for failing to second-guess DEA-registered doctors and refuse their prescriptions. But if pharmacists do so, they may face the wrath of state medical boards, the medical community at large, individual doctors, and patients.”Walmart says in the suit that the Justice Department identified hundreds of doctors who have written problematic prescriptions that Walmart’s pharmacists allegedly should not have filled.
