(KGTV) - A speeding U-Haul truck turned a neighborhood near La Mesa into a dumping ground Saturday afternoon. Along Tropico Drive, the sound of a speeding vehicle - and then a loud thud - startled Steve Haase in his driveway.  In the middle of the road was a couch, carpet padding, tile and a painting.    Haase lives on a cul-de-sac, so he knew the vehicle would have to come back around.  Haase walked into the road, and saw a mid-sized U-Haul truck.  He saw two men in their early 20s inside, laughing."They're coming down the street and I put my hand up.  They stop, but they get close, so I get out of the way. LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former magazine model, her boyfriend and their former roommate are headed toward trial in the killing of a 71-year-old California psychiatrist whose body was found outside Las Vegas, a defense attorney said Friday.Kelsey Nichole Turner's lawyer, Brian Smith, said his client, Jon Logan Kennison, and Diana Nicole Pena are still due Monday before a Las Vegas judge on murder and conspiracy charges in the slaying of Thomas Kirk Burchard.However, Smith said their preliminary hearing will be called off after a grand jury handed up an indictment moving the case to Nevada state court for trial.Burchard lived in Salinas, California. Police say he had an intimate relationship with Turner and paid rent on a Las Vegas home where Turner, Kennison and Pena lived.Turner, Kennison and Pena are accused of killing Burchard and leaving his bludgeoned corpse in Turner's Mercedes Benz where it was found March 7 on a desert road between Las Vegas and Lake Mead.Turner, 26, modeled for Playboy Italia and Maxim magazines. LANCASTER, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man whose body was found in a stone pillar in Lancaster Saturday could be the remains of a man who ran from police earlier in the week, according to KTLA. The body was found inside a stone pillar outside the WinCo Foods grocery store on the 700 block of West Avenue K around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.Earlier that morning, a manager at the store reported a foul smell coming from the pillar. The manager called a plumber thinking there was a sewage problem.When the plumber arrived and began knocking away the pillar’s stone, a leg and tennis shoes were visible. After arriving on scene, police were able to link the body to an incident earlier in the week.On Monday, a man was pulled over after being suspected of driving a stolen vehicle, police told KTLA. The man ran from police onto the rooftop of the grocery store which, according to authorities, has access to the inside of the pillars.Police say it’s possible that the man fell or climbed into one of the pillars to escape from authorities. With a recent heat wave and the density of the pillars, police say it’s possible the man became trapped and unable to breathe. 1167
