SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police officers chased down two drivers in stolen cars, but only one man was arrested early Wednesday morning.According to San Diego Police, officers spotted a BMW that had just been stolen driving down Hotel Circle South in Mission Valley around 2 a.m. They followed the car, which appeared to be following another car, a black Dodge Charger.When officers tried to pull them over, both drivers sped off in different directions.Just when officers thought they lost the BMW, they found it in a Serra Mesa neighborhood. They moved in with their guns drawn and surrounded the car, but no one was inside.Officers eventually found the suspect hiding in a nearby shed and took him into custody.The driver of the Dodge Charger led officers towards Mission Valley, but that car was later found abandoned behind a Verizon store. 847

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Normal Heights will become the testing ground for 7-Eleven's newest store strategy aimed at young consumers.The company will open a location of its "Evolution Store" concept at 3504 El Cajon Blvd. "in the next month or so," a company spokesperson told 10News.The store, geared to have a millennial appeal, will offer consumers options like made-to-order coffee and smoothie drinks, kombucha and cold brew on tap, and self-serve frozen yogurt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More local employees are losing their employer health insurance benefits during the COVID-19 crisis.10News was contacted about employees at the San Marcos Veterinary Clinic who were apparently working just as many hours but their medical benefits have been dropped.10News spoke to the owner of the clinic on Thursday who said she was forced to make the tough and emotional call to drop her 13 employees' health benefits, including her own, in order to keep them on the payroll and keep the clinic’s lights on during the pandemic. She said the decision was made out of desperation. Not greed.On Thursday, 10News interviewed Anthony Wright with Health Access California, a consumer advocacy group. “A stay in the hospital for say seven or ten days on a ventilator, which is the treatment for having a severe case of this virus, could be in the tens of thousands of dollars if you're not covered” he told 10News.So, what if you lose your coverage during the pandemic? Wright told 10News that Californians can try COBRA, which temporarily extends your same employer-based health plan, but there’s a downside. “That's a very expensive option for most people,” he added.Wright said a better option could be Covered California, the state's health insurance marketplace that allows individuals to buy coverage at federally subsidized rates.Covered California’s open enrollment period has been extended through June, amid concerns over the virus. “How much Covered California costs is very much dependent on your current income. It's a percentage of your income on a sliding scale,” he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found near the San Diego River Saturday night. According to San Diego Police, a man’s body was found on the 9400 block of Friars Road near SDCCU Stadium around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed signs of “possible trauma to the upper body.”“Out of an abundance of caution, San Diego Police Homicide detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident,” the department said. The man has been identified, but his identity isn’t being released until his family is notified. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police say they have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting in the Midway District during a meeting set up on social media.San Diego Police arrested 18-year-old Angel Garcia of San Diego on Wednesday and charged him in the murder of Eduardo Salguero, 18, of San Diego, on Nov. 25.Police say Salguero had arranged to purchase an item through Snapchat and met for the transaction behind several businesses in the 3600 block of Midway Dr. When he arrived, two Hispanic males entered his vehicle. During the meeting, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and the transaction turned into an armed robbery.RELATED: Midway District shooting victim killed during Snapchat transaction, police sayMultiple gunshots were fired inside the vehicle before the two suspects fled. Salguero was taken to a nearby hospital but died of his injuries.Both suspects were described the suspects as Hispanic males, between 20-30 years old, who were wearing dark clothing at the time.
