The nation is split along party lines, with 75 percent of Republicans saying the #MeToo movement has gone too far, compared to 21 percent of Democrats.Sexual assault advocates say that can have an impact on victims coming forward or being believed.“From a survivor’s perspective, if you already felt the criminal justice might not be a space where you’re believed, your willingness to think that that’s going to get better in this political moment is probably not likely,” Stumpf explains. 1614

Have you heard of the "Dirty Dozen" list? Every year, it lists the 12 fruits and veggies that have the most pesticides. Now, one group of researchers says the list may be scaring people unnecessarily.Laura Molina works to make sure her customers at her community market, Growhaus, pick the best fruits and veggies.“We try to bring everything organic and local,” Molina said.It ends up being a mix. So, when customers ask her how to pick between organic and conventional, she often gives them advice she takes herself.“Everything that I can peel, I can buy, like, not organic,” Molina explains. “But like lettuce, mushrooms, apples, I try to buy them organic.”But is there a set rule for choosing? Every year, a nonprofit called the Environmental Working Group puts out the "Dirty Dozen," a list of the 12 fruits and veggies most contaminated by pesticide residue.This year, apples, celery and tomatoes made the list.However, a group of scientists say these foods may not be as dirty as some once thought, and the way the EWG analyzed the data is flawed.“The benefit of fruits and vegetables far outweighs the potential concern of this pesticide residue,” registered dietitian Jessica Crandall said.Crandall says consumers would have to eat a lot of a certain fruit or vegetable to be affected by any pesticides.“You would have to be eating so many cups,” Crandall said. “Like 400-plus cups of strawberries per day in order for that residue to be a potential concern if you're an adult. And if your kid, needs to be around 200 cups per day of strawberries.”Those concerned about pesticides in produce can visit safefruitsandveggies.com to check pesticide levels in any produce item.Ultimately, the decision shouldn't be based on a list.“I believe it is a personal choice,” Crandall said. “And so if you like the way that it tastes, better then to go ahead and consume. FROSTPROOF, Fla. — The triple murder of three close friends is under investigation in Florida.The Polk County Sheriff's Office says around 10:06 p.m. on Friday, one victim, 27-year-old Rollins, called his dad for help. Officials say his dad knew Brandon had gone fishing with two of his friends, 30-year-old Keven Springfield and 23-year-old Damion Tillman, who were also victims. All were from Frostproof.Brandon's dad drove to the unincorporated area of Frostproof and when he arrived, he found his son barely alive, officials say. The other two friends were found dead.Brandon's dad drove to a close-by gas station to call 911.When first responders arrived, all three victims were found dead. Officials said they appeared to have been beaten and shot."This is a horrific scene. I've been to a lot of murder scenes in my life and this ranks among the worst I've been to," said Sheriff Grady Judd.According to families, the three men were best friends and knew each other for years. They said the three men were fishing on land, not in a boat."We are seeking leads. We need help so we can solve this crime sooner rather than later because there are one or more, we suspected more, murderers, that killed three people in a quiet community," said Sheriff Judd.The sheriff's office is asking for the public's help on any information on the incident. (AP) — A commercial pilot from Oregon raised a giant pumpkin weighing 2,170 pounds (984 kilograms) to win a pumpkin-weighing contest in Northern California.Steve Daletas, of Pleasant Hill, Oregon, on Monday credited a good seed and lots of sunny days since he planted it April 15 hoping to win the 45th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, California.It is the fourth time Daleta takes top honors at the annual pumpkin-weighing contest. He won ,190 for the lumpy pumpkin that will be showcased at Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival this weekend.He says he used a backhoe to place it on a pickup truck and drove it for 12 hours to California.The world record for largest pumpkin was set in a 2014 weigh-off in Germany by Swiss farmer Beni Meier who grew a 2,323-pound (1,053 kilograms) pumpkin. 850

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Comedian Bill Cosby has won the right to fight his 2018 sexual assault conviction before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The 82-year-old Cosby has been imprisoned in suburban Philadelphia for nearly two years after a jury convicted him of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004. He's serving a three- to 10-year sentence.The Supreme Court has agreed to review two aspects of the case that Cosby's lawyers challenge. The first involves the judge's decision to let prosecutors call five other accusers. And the court will examine Cosby's argument that he had an agreement with a former prosecutor that he'd never be charged. 663
